Formed in 2009 this 4-piece released their first EP entitled Babylon Rise on the 18/4/11. On listening to the band it is apparent that they do not fit into any category and have indeed brought something “fresh” to the metal scene.
Morphia
Beautiful strings blending with some crisp drumming and a great way to open a track. It thunders into life and brings with it some intensity of mega proportion. The vocals are clean but none the less contain a certain grit that becomes more apparent as the track unfolds. A great beat with an immense sound follows and compelling listening. The breakdowns are just crazy!!!
Lachrymose
Slower paced at the beginning but the strings are just so beautiful, they literally bring tears to my eyes. It picks up tempo and then drops back into the slow groove again. Crisp clean vocals that suits the track so perfectly. Again it builds up to immense proportions and has an intensity all its own. It offers dark compelling and epic all in one! I love this track
Raze the World
Thunderous drumming with a thudding cymbal the track blasts into life. The vocals are amazing! The chords fire up into more immense listening. It gets under the skin and rips through the nervous system like a frenzied virus. The bass kicks ass through-out the track. Slowing to bring you some more awesome strings and some softer vocals. I can imagine the crowd holding the lighters high to this track!
Drown
Again this track just fires on all six with intensity and power. You never know what to expect from Kaitain. But you know it is going to be something special. It is very serious listening but you don’t have to be in the mood to listen as it just carries you to a different plane of thought. Definite ear candy for anyone who likes something different! The breakdown is just phenomenal here, it has crushing rhythm and beats galore, only to slow and build the twists to this track are amazing, but somehow the word “amazing” just doesn’t cut it and seems lame to describe a monster track that will pulverise the listener to grand proportion.
Babylon Rise
I love the dark gnawing ambient sound as the track opens. Immediately it gets the blood surging through the veins. An unholy mechanized beat ushers forth and wraps itself around your ears. Vocals One world, one world order, new world order, Babylon Rise! A great catchy melody but it possesses a frantic raw edgy and superb all round sound. Indeed my favourite track on the EP. I will be singing this for a long time to come!
Well one of my New Year Resolutions is coming true tonight as I am going to see this amazing band LIVE tonight! So looking forward to this...
This is indeed special metal and can be sampled on the above link, but beware it is elitist metal and epic in every sense of the word. You may find yourself pressing the repeat button more than once.
