Biography:

“The band is now more gospel focused than we ever have been. We definitely sought to write lyrics on the new album that would tell stories in a different way or from a different perspective, rather than saying the same stuff over and over. We want to inspire people to think a little deeper and read into things more. Take for example the song "broken lens" The gospel is the lens through which we must view the world. But our own selfishness has skewed and distorted our perspective, causing us to see the world through a "broken lens". It's okay for us to write songs about our own brokenness (which we need a saviour for). I don't see that as a compromise in our message whatsoever!”

No Truth

The sinister ambiance collaborates with some fantastic blood throated growls and angry beats of lush metal core. The shrillness of rhythms and prowling impressiveness are such a hearty track to open with it fair takes your breath away!!

Broken Lens

Is really provoking as it provides an insight into seeing things through a broken lens meaning things can be deceiving, just as the music, doesn’t conjure up a Christian image or a gospel one, However, this is metal at its most invasive with memorable chorus and melodies to match.

Forced Into Fire

The seething vocal lures are hearty and raw as with most metal core genres it homes in on energy and virulent infection, making it so appealing and has the added bonus of stupendous harmonies.

Deserter

Owns a tremendous melodic hue that is backed up with an arduous rhythm and strenuous vocal edge and sounds unrelenting and remorseless!

Bitter Roots

Slowing things down considerably now, this ambles and outlines a softer vocal. Its dream-like qualities cloak the ears and gives out a more polished feel.

Wastelands

This track builds with anticipation and delivers a brutal smack around the head! Loaded with emotive force and intimidating rhythms it is increasingly dramatic and edgy.

Hopeless Ambition

Interesting pulsating rhythm attached to this track that bristles with urgency and perpetually evolves with dynamism. It persuades with utter potency and nurtures with extreme pleasure.

Determination

There is no escaping its brutal colossal rhythms that engage as the track furthers. The harsh bass hooks are likely to wrap themselves around the aural and not let go.

Flooded Earth

Apt for the time of year and what has been going on in our world of late. This track swirls with a temperance of keyboard that gives it a provoking edge. However, suddenly exploding into a violent fever of toxicity it is likely to sweep you away.

Time and Tide

Boasts some fantastic harmonies that complement the track superbly! The melodic slices of metal are enthralling as well as appealing and antagonistic in delivery! The chorus is catchy and so easy to get wrapped up in.

No matter what anyone says about mixing religion with metal this is a very impressive album with striking qualities of a coarse and hostile nature, just as their genre suggests. Many of you may not like metalcore, for me, this is so powerful and deserves to be noticed.

Never wanting to compare bands but it isn’t possible here as Eisregen – translated as Ice Rain sound not dissimilar to Rammstein, complete with rolling r’s.

Blutkreis

Holding a good solid beat and feisty rhythm but no getting away from the Lindemann vocals. Loving the fact the band sing in German as it is one superb accent to sing metal in making it sound a lot harsher.

Bunkertur

This indeed holds a black metal feel but labelled under the heading of ‘metal’ which is cheating a bit! The powerful surges of the track say its black metal but there’s a few melodic slices attached, so could be labelled as death too!

Leichensack

Has a very classical feel to it and I would also say medieval. The throaty gruffness adds to its ‘Rammsteinesqueness’ with tempered beats and shrill sounds, is a very enjoyable track, when the accompanying structures come into play.

Gott Der Panzer

This track gives us a glimpse into war as the explosions are prevalent along with a marching edge, subsequently accentuated with a plethora of harmonies.

Adlerhorst

Has a rich flavour of thickening rhythms, protruding with antagonism, although not an all-out marauding track but harbouring sinister guises smothered in evil instead!

Fleischbrand

Back to the Medieval, although added is a slight pirate theme and sung in German it houses a good strong metal rhythm, enhanced with a great chorus!

Mein Leben auf deiner Haut

This has rolling tone and vibrant rhythms that pave the way for a track that doesn’t run in the bands own vein, but a much rockier one!

Foltergeist

With an up tempo drum beat, chronic screams and quickening pace the track explodes into a frenzy of riffs. Delving into an enthralling swathe of keyboard and a flurry of growling vocals – things just got interesting!

Was Von Dir Bleibt

Shows just what Yantit can do on keyboards, providing a dark and dismal dirge that’s in keeping with a solid beat. Great use of instruments, not to mention the mischievous melody running through its core.

Panzerschokolade

This will bring a smile to your face, a touch of tongue in cheek rears again and vocally ‘pirateish’ for want of a better word, definitely holds keen interest.

Pervertin Peter (So Lange die Schon)

Distortion has been used to create a powerful track! Contained within flanks of metal are some shrill keyboard moments that cement the track together superbly!

Cotard Delusion

For individuality and creativity this has to be the track of all tracks. It is noise ridden, black, and fuel injected with barbarous demonic hues. The deluge continues to tear at the ears with its sharp teeth and exudes a chronic madness that pulsates with a barrage of angular crookedness. It is extremely hard to put into words what this band have brought to the table, but saying that, there is nothing more appealing than a prime evil feel with rip roaring screams!

Failed Manifestation

The cavalry of intense rampage continues to flow endlessly like a black mass of carnivorous monsters that have landed from another planet! The sound perpetually wraps itself around the aural cavities like an angry and hungry snake! The screams are powerful and unrelenting, combined with unyielding, and savage noises creates a wealth of energy.

Keratoconus

To say this is just as evil as the previous two tracks is an understatement. It would leave its peers cowering for mercy! Sounding like an exorcism gone wrong is perhaps a good way of explaining it, however, as it is so unpredictable this is what makes it great listening, not knowing what to expect or what will run from its gigantic structure or ooze from its textures – perhaps you are better off not knowing!

Latex

There is nothing subtle about this track, or indeed any other track on this EP. It doesn’t coax the listener it simply drags and mauls its victims into submission, tearing them limb from limb with jagged teeth! The powerful noise ridden barrage continues to pour down and soak with relish the unwary and then with a crude awakening it begins to grip with an iron hand.

Summary

I have enjoyed every track on this strange EP because it is just that ‘strange’. The evil effects are ruthless and inhumane and bring it to a new level of vulgar! This is not meant to be derogatory in any way, more a compliment of sorts as the noise brutality and cruel vocal onslaught hits like a giant tsunami.

Vicious and uncouth are the levels it sinks to in order to get its message across and no doubt the band members will probably have to be exorcised after playing this let alone the listeners who are caught up in the bands evil wrong doings.

This is one hard hitting EP not for the faint hearted!!

“AFFLICTION GATE was formed during Spring 2006 taking inspiration from late 80's / early 90's Death Metal classics of UNLEASHED, MASSACRE, MANTAS /DEATH, BOLT THROWER, ASPHYX, GRAVE etc... Conceptually, AFFLICTION GATE deals with Darkness through its various shapes and manifestations. The one which can bring freedom, strength, wisdom... but also the one which can lead to downfall and chaos. Still for the better or for the worse. Lyrics are therefore the mirror of the negativity and the dark side that someone can behold or witness. Themes refer to death, despair, solitude, irreligion, war, destruction & self-destruction...!”

Negative Lucidity

From the off the demonic grunts and growls infest the track to such a level there’s no escape. It is unashamedly creative and menacing.  The drumming literally surfs on a wave of rampant rhythms and manifests as such a strong opening track. The melodic hues are comfortably nestled into the structure and indeed the very fabric of the track. The very bombastic nature shown here is a major highlight and a very familiar one but never the less irresistible and leaves the senses wanting more.

Devising our own Chains

With some superb melodic provocation the track springs to life and intensifies with a tremendous metal urgency. There are catchy moments contained within its massive and skilful encounter showing no sign of weakness. Vocally addictive, Always loved the hearty blood curdling roars that come attached to death metal, so no surprise there! The intensity of this track knows no bounds and right up until its frantic end will ignite further interest.

Dying Alone

The title track of this mega 4 track comes with a stampede of rhythms bulging from all sides, unleashing further chaotic moments as it comes together with mighty aggressive stance. There is a black metal leaning contained within the track musically, holding a deep barbed rhythm that prowls wearily amid a conglomerate of guitar riffs.

Manicheism Inertia

This is an all-out frenzy of death metal madness and I should think would be difficult to head bang to, leaning more towards a mosh pit of terror! It embraces a raw nature of predacious elements that literally swamp the ears and torment the psyche. The punishing riffs and rhythms melt swiftly into an angry blur of seemingly twisting and invasive absurdity, and never loses direction.

Summary:

Such a tremendous 4 track that lacks nothing and would spark a nuclear attack if it was a bomb! Its raw intensity is flanked with bristling riffs and gigantic drum beats that rain down fierce and with plenty of clout!

Locking horns and tearing into the senses it leaves the listener in no doubt that this band enjoy terrorising their listeners with a fuel injected hatred, and while being terrorized in such a way it brings a supreme pleasure.

Turbulent and abrasive with heaps of melodic direction, raucous riffs and gruff vocal edge, surging with powerful essences that spontaneously combusts and continues to mesmerise throughout every track - no time for respite!
