It’s always a good venue to play the Cheshire Cheese. Its compact little seating area and small bar make it cosy and homely and the atmosphere is always welcoming and this time was no different, in fact, it was made more welcoming seeing new faces. Pete had brought his son Johnny and his wife Ellie, we brought Nicole a good friend of ours from Tesco’s and Neil brought someone who is in a Van Halen tribute band.
There were a lot more people in the band’s half of the room for sure, sometimes it is the other way around but this time the crowd wanted to see the band and sat right where they got the best views which were utterly fantastic.
The cameras and mobile phones were going off ten to the dozen capturing memories that will last forever.

As the first set began people watched closely and of course I nudged them when Oggy was going to change a few words – well we wouldn’t want them missing anything, would we?
The first set is always the slower set to ease everyone into their stride but you know the second set is going to launch you into oblivion. The band only took a five-minute break before climbing back on stage for a full-on assault and the usual banter that follows.
There was no shortage of laughs, people clapping and witty banter for sure – as the band, dish it out the audience laps it up and thus enjoying the set even more.
For me ‘Word-up’ is one of those tracks my little feet can’t ignore and so when the first chords appeared I was straight up and doing my bit, much to a lot of people’s surprise, although trying to sing and dance isn’t easy as the breathlessness takes over but I knew I could do it for just one dance at least (and did) my way of saying thanks to the band for playing it!

People were already up dancing well before I got up and were having the time of their lives laughing and joining in with the band.
The time seemed to go by so fast, I couldn’t believe it. No sooner were the unloading stuff were they loading it up again, but it was a fun gig and great spending time with new faces as well as familiar ones.
Big thanks to the Cheshire Cheese Staff, the punters for coming and supporting the band, big hugs to Nicole, Ellie and Johnny, Jane and Tracy Footitt and of course to Roadhog for all their witty banter - thanks again guys! Roll on the next one on the 2nd June at The Jubilee Club - we expect to see you there!!!
