Genre: NWOBHM/Speed Thrash

Biography:
“Kaine are a leading force in the British Metal Revival formed in 2009 by Rage Sadler (rhythm guitars & vocals) and Dan Mailer (bass guitar & vocals). The band is a NWOBHM inspired 5 piece which offers a tri-guitar attack.

Kaine have played close to 200 shows and has supported some of the best known acts past and present such as NWOBHM legends Praying Mantis, Dennis Stratton (Iron Maiden), Deep Machine and American Thrash legends Mordred as well as current acts such as Savage Messiah, Absolva (ex-Fury UK) and ZP Theart’s I-AM-I (ex-Dragonforce).

The band was voted the GMA Breakthrough U.K. band of the year in 2013. The results were Kaine (15%), The Defiled (14%), Fallen Fate (13%) and Wretched Soul (12%).
Kaine completed two tours in 2014 the first alongside Monument (featuring ex-White Wizard members) and the second supporting Mordred on their 10 date reunion O2 Academy tour of Britain and Ireland.

In 2014 the band released its second album “The Waystone”. The album was recorded at Angry Bee Studios in London and produced by Akis K (RIP 2015) and mastered by Z-Plane. The album sold out of the first pressing during the pre-order phase and the lead single “Iron Lady” has over 6k views on YouTube. The second pressing of the album subsequently sold out also!”

The Kings of NWOBHM are back! With a new single entitled ‘Quality of Madness’ and quality it is for Sure? This single released with the new line-up consisting of (Davids/MacKinnon/Mailer/Murch/Sadler) a true force to be reckoned with. Recorded live at Short Stack Studios and produced/mastered by Jaz Powell.

The powerful chugs that emanate from this single are nothing but pure metal in every sense of the word. It’s a creative melting pot of sturdy rhythmic slabs of genius! Instantly engaging and forthright it holds its own and turns hellacious within seconds of pressing the play button!

Kaine’s intent is pretty clear as they mesmerise through a hail of riffs that rips you a new one!

It is a crisp display of sheer metal arrogance. Since the band’s first early self-titled E.P release, I have been proud to say I am hooked on their sheer thirst for proving a point.

The rampant brawl of intense riffs and feisty beats are prevalent through-out and give the listener a knee jerk to the gut! The vocals by Rage are healthily gripping and sit perfectly over the jarring rhythmic swagger that simply bursts from its confines and punishes on all levels.

Kaine have come a long way since forming in 2009 and have over the last few years grown in stature and now producing excellent quality material that is ripe for metal ears.

“This is a superb single that deserves attention - If you want to do something good this year then add this to your CD collection!!”

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From being intense from the off Kaine are a band that are never likely to let the grass grow under their feet, if something can be obtained it will be and done with exacting precision which makes Kaine a league above the rest.

This single at 6 minutes and 30 seconds is a riveting composition that has bags of allure and appeal and will have your hair flying in seconds of hearing it.  The fact they have added another guitar and become this tri-guitar attack has certainly pumped yet more adrenalin into an already ‘fit to burst’ volatile mix!

Kaine are now well on the road to becoming the next Iron Maiden but much, much better (in my opinion)

These guys deliver the goods and are no nonsense in approach! Great in a studio setting but far more grandiose in a live one!

This is a superb single that deserves attention - If you want to do something good this year then add this to your CD collection!!

Genre: EBM/ Electro-Industrial

Biography:
“Atmosphere, Angst and Rhythm' is how they describe their sound - think of a hybrid of Nitzer Ebb, NIN, Depeche Mode and early Gary Numan and you're getting close.  During 2012 Defeat released their debut Outbursts! E.P followed by a remix collection entitled simply Defeat Remixed. Their debut full-length album, entitled [seek help] was released to a positive reception in summer 2013, closely followed by a free download single of the track ‘Coffin’ at the end of 2013. As 2014 progressed, the band released a free remix version of the [seek help] album, and are now currently working on an E.P to release later in the year!”

Want
On listening to this it gives off an undiluted texture that is condensed with a constant bubbling rhythm that keeps it focused, while the soft vocal whispering's give out a more sinister edge. It is fair to say that this track harbours an inviting lure of ever evolving emotions.

Twist
Holding a pulsating rhythmic pull it stomps melodically through its structures that are lively and vibrant. The grooves have a binding effect that in turn gravitate towards the ears and licks them clean making it an enthralling experience.

Resist
As you listen to this track you find it broods sneakily under a ripple of notes and makes your skin break out into goose-bumps. It targets with coaxing and certain persuasion which accounts for its captivation and melodic preciseness.

Attention Seeker
This track literally comes alive and has hard hitting consequences that leap out of the speakers in a vibrant catchy fashion, ready to throttle you! It holds a compelling beat that never relents, it just keeps on growing and certainly lives up to its name! My favorite track so far with its anthemic chorus, flirting with devilish impact! It’s a winner!

Care for Me
Sonic thuds boldly stomp to open this track and then a mish mash of sounds come tumbling down onto a dark keyboard arrangement. Slower in pace than the previous track but it houses a lot more atmospheric ambiance making for an enthralling melodic encounter.

Goodbye
A rather dramatic tinny beat pursues dark twisted rhythms that bubble under the surface of its maddening structure that grows more urgent by the minute. Its wild and inescapable edge is embracing and has an insatiable appetite.

Twist (Shaken not Stirred Mix by X-Kin by Veronique)
This track takes a bit to get started but once it does it ripples with a distinct and delightful melody, although, I am not so keen on Veronique’s vocals though as they sound too mainstream for such an unusual track.

"Although, I personally prefer the more vibrant lashings that jump out at you at every available opportunity! The deep grooves and effervescent rhythms really sell themselves, while the gripping clarity of vocals flavors the album further!"

Goodbye (Bye Motherfucker bye – Mix by Ruinizer
Again this track takes a bit to get going but the well worth the wait!! The sonic rumbling and pulsing nature is a torrential outpouring of utter vengeance! Its harsh and magnetic pull is unrelenting and ferocious. It’s a very contagious track that offers a superb snarling vocal.

Want (Blackened Mix by Paresis)
This goes straight in for the kill and hits the ground running. It possesses a haunting and ambient backdrop while the rhythms are more ‘in your face’ and makes for an exciting confrontation.

How Pathetic (Self-Loathing Mix by Cease2xist)
A striking beginning with tons of atmosphere and rounded rhythms that lie on a jagged keyboard frenzy! It tempts with a turbulence that is alive and rich with infectious pulsating grooves making it a superb dance track to boot!

Summary:
This album does on the odd occasion drag its heels but contained within it is a good eclectic mix of atmosphere, groove and deep unwavering rhythms that do warrant further re-plays to fully appreciate the potency and spice that makes it an enjoyable listen.

It is always a good sign when reviewing and you don’t get past a certain track as it is just too good to listen to once as with ‘Attention Seeker’ ‘Goodbye’ and ‘How Pathetic’

The album offers hard core grooves as well as lighter, calmer moments which I feel is an accurate description of the album on the whole.

Although, I personally prefer the more vibrant lashings that jump out at you at every available opportunity! The deep grooves and effervescent rhythms really sell themselves, while the gripping clarity of vocals flavors the album further.

With only one track that does not float my dinghy this album has loads to offer and is a contagious romp well within my comfort zone.  So for all EBM fans this is one album that certainly will rock your groove!
