Ever had a few regrets? I have a very large one and that is not seeing Krazee Knights when they were going and now I never will. However, Neil from the bone-crunching rock band Roadhog has since joined another band called Kiss GB, so grabbing a chance to see the band with both hands we went to support them at the Slow & Easy, which is a fantastic venue run by Lamby who was indeed celebrating his 50^th Birthday in style. There was a large area for camping, ample parking, great outside seating area with bar and indoors three sections, although not as much seating as I think there should be inside, but that is beside the point.

The VJ really amped the volume up before the band arrived on stage so much so that the band itself didn’t sound loud enough and a bit muffled and ‘Shout it out loud’ sounded like it was sung an octave lower and very monotone.

Kiss GB didn’t begin until just after 9 pm and although the make-up and hair were spot on it was the suits that threw me, because not “every girl’s crazy ‘bout a sharp dressed man!” at least not this one! Give me spikes any day of the week!  I was expecting the whole shebang – boots, spikes and plenty of blood, but what I felt I got was half of Kiss and half ZZ Top, so it kind of killed the mood a little for me personally, however, despite the absence of Kiss gear, the tracks were well executed and the crowd were going mental and there were a lot of people in the fold, which was fantastic to see. But, Kiss GB made No big entrance either, the band just took hold of their instruments and began playing I thought there was going to be a lot more uproar than what was displayed, but I think their fans made up for that!

It would have been good to see Kiss GB perform in the gear and to then feel I had indeed seen Kiss live and in the raw, never having seen the real Kiss live back in the day, despite buying their albums but they always seemed so far out of reach, so to speak, but suits have never been my forte and even less when Kiss started wearing them.

We didn’t stay for the second half but it mattered little as the place was wall to wall and the band do have a good following, although, obviously their fans don’t mind the suits. For ‘Heaven’s on Fire’ quite a number of people got up to show their appreciation which was nice to see, but as I wasn’t feeling my best we slowly made our way out for the short drive home.

Hope Lamby the Landlord enjoyed his 50^th!

Don’t forget to go see Neil with Roadhog on the 21^st April at The Old Market Tavern – it promises to be a great night at another great venue.

PS: Forgot to mention that I did do the raffle which was drawn at around 10 pm numbers 301 - 310 and number 300 was called, still between us Oggy and I won 12.00 on the National so it wasn't too unbearable losing lol.
