2012 these guys have not been spared the usual exhausting line-up changes
undergone by so many bands and in their own words were “formed from the leftovers
and outcasts of various other bands around the South East” But now they have
their solid line-up they seem pretty unstoppable.
Lynchpyn (spelled with a Y in Pyn) was the
creation of Justin previously from (Smoking Barrels and Maelstrom) and slowly
but surely gathered further members along the way. They
have since been writing from when they formed in May and their influences are
Killswitch Engage, Fear Factory and Pantera to name but three and not an
exhaustive list there are more as you would expect!
The taster E.P.
has that cartoon element about it with a nice glossy fold out sleeve containing
caricatures of the band complete with their nick names and a good likeness of
all. All in all it is at home in my collection and will be played to the max.
The band will
be heading into the studio in February to record their debut album and video
and in the meantime released this two track taster of what has now been unleashed
on the general public. Get ready...
Can you speak
now?
Blinding riffs
that were made to set you on fire, this literally pulverises the senses it
builds to a ferocious frenzy of molten metal but I feel, however that the
vocals could be a tad more forceful in delivery and lets the track down
slightly - nothing to be overly concerned about though as musically it lacks nothing. Rhythmically enjoyable guitars,
powerful drums and solid bass – it does have a certain quality that captures an
extremely wicked metal element. Go check the bands Facebook page out to hear it.
Drop the Blade
This is a
superb track the band has got it right on ALL levels. The vocals are a lot more forceful and
therefore it kicks metal right in your face.
The swaggering melodies and drum beats are catchy and full of wholesome
metal deliverance. The guitars leave their shrill mark whilst the bass conquers. It smacks of pleasing rhythms. I think the guys should be pleased with this
creation. I have no doubt this could become the bands anthem and can imagine
all the horns raised high for this when played live.
To sum up Lynchpyn have mixed melody with
aggression and more to the point - it works! Drop the Blade is without a doubt one of the best metal tracks I
have heard in a long time. It has a superb build-up, with amazing vocal
delivery and that punishing rhythm is to die for! With bludgeoning riffs and a good strong bass
hook tops it off – the more you hear it the more you love it.
Looking forward
to hearing more from Lynchpyn in the
near future – this is just the beginning!
I really think they could end up getting to the top very quickly – they have
the experience behind them and have demonstrated they have what it takes to go
all the way!
Remember the
name Lynchpyn - the band have great head
banging quality, drive and a force behind them that can only take them further
up the musical scale. I can just see myself head banging to this on a Saturday
night amid a sea of horns raised in appreciation for a band who is more than
ready to step out into the breach and take the world by storm if given the
right opportunities.
I can’t wait to
hear the album and see the vid – if this taster is anything to go by it will
shatter a lot of skulls!
