Everyone
has their favourite genres, that’s a fact, but for me Melodic Metal holds the
most benefit. With its catchy addictive
qualities, volatile sultriness and lets not forget the place it takes you to
when listening. Melodic metal is without a doubt a superior genre and worth
exploring if you haven’t done so already.
Primordial Dawn – The
strings guide you into familiar territory, its wild, untamed and beautiful in
every sense of the word. Turning more abrasive for a brief second and then as
quickly as it arrives it dissipates and leaves you searching for its key to
unlock the adventure.
Tusk – Is a
myriad of sounds that manifest in all-out war, as the brutality hits. The
vocals devilishly compel with guttural intent while a clean vocal takes over.
The scathing rhythmic pounding draws you into their massive strides and leaves
a smouldering trail in its wake.
Of Prometheus and the Sacred –
Yet
more soothing strings infiltrate the mind taking you further on this epic
journey. Driven with intensity and swiftly taking its course it ignites into
one ferocious track.
War of the Gods – Embarks
on a torrential outpouring of vocal essences that leave one immersed in their
glory. Both inspiring and imaginative the rhythmic slurry once it reaches the
ears gives full-on colour in a developing background and does not disappoint.
As the sky falls – With a
battering ram of drum beats the scene is set for one of extreme and incredible
emotions. Seizing the audial like a captured prisoner the track leaves nothing
to chance and paints a brooding back-drop of supersonic melodies.
Resurrection – Damming
and abrasive it fires on all cylinders and declares war on its victims with
gruff vocal determination and immense harmonies. The rabid riffs catapult the
sound through its fast paces with close attention to detail.
Through Darkness and Decay – As you
would expect this tracks holds slightly more dream-like variations but none the
less truly engaging. It caresses the ears after the brutal and recent onslaught.
Into Oblivion – Thrusts
the listener into a tumultuous world of savagery, punchy and solid are the
riffs the vocal sits on, rousing it up a further notch as the chugs a mass to building
an increasingly challenging and addictive track.
New World – Takes
things to a smoother more ambient encounter, however not for long as the
pulverizing beats and strenuous rhythms take over and leave one feeling
energized for the final track.
Ages Unsung – Does
not finish on a slow note – far from it, as its tendrils spread like an
infection. The bands title track is just
as forthright as the band themselves and have produced yet another catchy and
bouncy track that hardens with each gigantic riff.
Summary: Amazing! (To cause great surprise or wonder)
not that I should be surprised at all, it is my favourite genre so the
familiarities are all there, however, the sturdiness in the tracks along with
their addictive and potent propositions are a delight to the audial and very
easy to engage in.
The
gruffness of the vocal incorporated into the tracks are welcome and give out an
imposing quality that simply stands up and says “Hey listen to this?” and of
course with immediate effect the band have you in the palm of their hand, while
the other is in iron grip mode around the music that controls your every whim!
For
lovers of Melodic Metal – I suggest you add this to your collection as it is
highly stimulating and reflects just what the band are capable of.
