Overview:
The scene was set in a warm warehouse where candles adorned every bench
and elsewhere there was subdued lighting.
The ambiance was just superb and all neatly housed in between massively decorated
walls that resembled a wooded scene. It could not have been more perfect to
host this event.

Genre: Alt Folk Rock Band
A light-hearted start to the evening, with Silver Doe. Their tunes
were delicate and diverse in the vein of slow and then a bit more up tempo.

Wearing a head dress with small antlers, Synnøve carried her vocals
to interesting levels, although out of my comfort zone and used to a meatier
sound, Silver Doe never really drifted from their mellow roots, but still gave
a gratifying performance that was enjoyed by the Camp and Furnace crowd.

The rawness of beats played on a small wooden box and a single
cymbal made it sound rustic and contributed to an impressive set.
The band showed a sense of humour when introducing a track called
‘Wet Dreams’ all about wanting to become a mermaid. It was sung well and
received just as warmly as the track ‘Lullaby’ the sheer loveliness gave the
tracks a warming and comforting quality, helped along by a strong melodic
keyboard that contributed further to a fullness of sound.

The haunting Irish vocals of Tiz McNamara were captivating. The
melancholic duo sang and played with total clarity. The lyrics were heartfelt and melodic and
brought a smile to my face when Tiz sung “I met her at the bottom of Hope
Street!” which captured an element of recognition and something to relate to.

Although, I was again out of my comfort zone, not being up on
acoustics sets, but since following the likes of the emotionally charged Kalandra I have now witnessed more than
a few acoustics acts to know what feels good and Tiz certainly put together an
all-round set that was highly entertaining.
Together they produced a well-executed and refined stage set that
drifted through the senses with ease.

There is always that moment of anticipation as Kalandra take to the
stage. After experiencing the bands unmistakable, addictive sound previously
and on several occasions before, I found myself gently lifted back into
Kalandra’s world.

This however, was an acoustic set by the band, so only four members of Kalandra were present, just in case you were wondering, and I thought it may
be a little like a carnivore going vegetarian so to speak, feeling there should
be more to feast on, however, I could not have been more wrong. Kalandra put
everything into their set, making it sound just as memorable as it has been
done previously but using less instruments.
Kalandra, never fail to impress and achieved an unmistakable set
that was undoubtedly powerful and interesting.
They sang a new track called ‘The Loss’ and a cover – ‘Grizzly Man’
never having heard them play a cover before nor even hearing the track or band
from who the track was lifted, I was however, impressed – although not really
surprising, as this band are in a league of their own and will no doubt carry
on widening eyes and opening mouths of audiences wherever they play with their
dream-like compositions that take music to a higher level.
