The album cover is eye catching and just about sums up what Prime Evil is all about gnarly, gruesome and evil and did I say awesome too??

Crucifixion Aftermath

Skull crushing and driven by sheer unadulterated malevolence – the onslaught never a baiting for a second. Pumping aggressive fuelled riffs, it slices through the flesh with dominance and will definitely leave its mark. A deep gruff vocal transforms into a high pitched screech is truly remarkable in itself, whilst the music is fast paced – and I mean fast and highly charged, sending shock waves out like an earthquake that measures over 10 on the Richter scale obliterating everything in its path. This is ecstasy infused mayhem!

Barbaric Rites

Holding deep resonating heavy rhythms laced with a gnarly guttural vocal entwined around a hard edge bass and pulverising beats. This perfect incendiary device will literally explode on listening.

Evilution Decree

Impacting and unrestrained it is disturbing and highly intense. Containing robust rhythms, and blazing beats coupled with a vocal that is straight from the bowels of hell and offers high pitched and shrill screams as well as low guttural impressive growls. The guitar just comes a live and ushers forth some strenuous riffs that are charged with a lot explosive vehement evil.

To sum up:

This E.P is 8 minutes 22 seconds of sheer unbridled evil from start to finish, the breakdowns are powerfully intense with vocals to match.  There is no let up from the brutality that encompasses its pure damming evilness and it does not stop there this goes on slaughtering long after it has desecrated, decapitated and devoured.

Superb listening that deserves further investigation into the bands other musical offerings and if, as I suspect, they are as brutal as this you won’t want to miss any of them! Highly recommended!

Devious and brilliantly played, strong and forceful it twists with a swagger of intricacy and creativity, conjuring up very expressive, addictive and rhythmic build-up – really stupendous track.

Tree of Woe

Creative chugging starts and a hypnotic intrusion follows.  An imaginative track with that doom laden feel although it never reaches the depths of true doom as it has its nice heavy metal melodic moments giving DRaH their distinct sound.

Beyond the Granite Threshold

Faster and precision played with a beautiful lilting foray of vocals that add to the depths of the track very well. Rhythmically superb, with a superb driving force that adds its own flavour to the mix. Plenty of energy, with emotive and irresistible heavy grooves that in turn unleash superb moments of deeply satisfying edgy rhythms.

Pantokrator

This track paves the way for more highly sophisticated rhythms that involve emotive attention and holds a certain suspense for emphasising hard emotions of intense passion.

The Eye

Irresistible lure this will suck you in and leave you breathless. Rich in melodic content and intensely stirring. DRaH make their presence heartfelt and are persistent in their beautifully carved rawness. This is one immense listen.

Fly to the Rainbow (Scorpions Cover)

This track takes me back, being an avid Scorpions fan I can hardly complain about this cover. Ida stamps her dark and moody lilting voice on the proceedings with a caressing tone, whilst the guitar is crisp and yet has that echoey resonance the Scorpions created on Fly to the Rainbow.  Eerie and reminiscent of early 70’s hippy, love and peace times, Kenneth and Jens do this track proper justice and embellish it with their precision guitar expertise – amazing!! Even the Scorpions would be proud of this track!

Dominion of Metal

Here we are being reminded of early Accept – this track fires to life with perfect towering rhythmic grooves and superb vocals. It gnaws at the senses and they react by a good strong nod of the head. Plenty of intense, drenched in solid beats and tempestuous rhythms that sway with enduring energy. It will suck you in with its interesting time changes and melody.

To sum up:

This set of 8 tracks is monumental in delivery, ticks all the boxes musically and is a damn good listen. You can hear the bands influences shining through such as Sabbath, Accept, and Scorpions, but DRaH put their own stamp on the proceedings like with the Scorpions, Fly to the Rainbow it really carves a new path for it and although the Scorpions as they are now could not be classed as Stoner but the earlier Scorpions definitely could. Ida’s vocals are along the same vein as Doro Pesch with that raucous lilt that suits the type of music DRaH portray so it is a win, win situation and sits comfortably in the ears of the listener.

Death Rides a Horse

From start to finish the album really grips, is played tightly and offers some amazingly charged tracks. I am hard pushed to pick a favourite as they are all so good with shifting and varied tracks that contain a strong melodic vocal. The band have really made their mark with this album and I will be recommending it to everyone – A highly good listen, produced superbly, with tight grooves, and building rhythms this album has it all in abundance and I for one will be playing this a whole lot more!

“RAMPART was founded in the middle of 2006. Many worthy musicians gave their contribution in building this fortress of Heavy Metal in Bulgaria.

Stone by stone the bastion was built in 2008 with the release of the demo EP “Warriors". It got some highly encouraging feedback from the European metal underground press.

In 2009 the band was ready to record new material. The French label Inferno Records signed RAMPART and released the debut album "Voice of the Wilderness".

In 2011 RAMPART recorded their new E.P “A Tale too Cold”. The band promoted this mini-release with gigs in the UK. Even the riots in London could not stop the band playing!

RAMPART is inspired by old-school Heavy Metal bands but their music has recently been taking a more Progressive slant and has more Thrash inspirations.

RAMPART's new studio album "War Behest" was released in June, 2012. It is a concept album that will bang your head!!! RAMPART promoted it with a tour in Bulgaria, Germany, Netherlands and France”

Thunder Realm (Prologue)

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have heard in a long time, its chords unwavering sweep smoothly and sweetly into a soft bed of melodic rhythms with ambient sounds of thunder and horses and flows into a guitar solo.

Army of the Perfect   

This however is more punchy and vibrant in its own way with spiked rhythm and jagged melodies that stab feverishly through a constant rhythmic drum beat. A shrieking female voice singing in what could be Bulgarian and then English (although overshadowed with the gigantic sound) amid a slapping bass hook and powerful guitar – that solo is superb! However this track is growing on me the further I listen.

Ghost of Freedom      

Skull crushing riffs fight their way through an onslaught of drumming, however the vocals sound a little insipid on this track.  The guitarist works over time putting out some jaw dropping riffs that squeal with delight and very moving. It slows creating an ambient flavour with sneaky bass hooks which adds depth.

Within the Silence      

Sleek strings come into existence crisp and melancholic although I think it is safe to say that I have not made an inaccurate assumption here, but the vocals tend to spoil the beauty of the track and sound similar to a soothsayer in a market and tend to start grating a little. However the guitar brings back the beauty with perfection.

Road to the Unknown         

Driving and powerful this cuts like a knife with thunderous chugs of high magnitude as well as smaller more crisp strings carried by a hard bass line and rhythmic drumming. Bristling with good solid musical content.

Fire Circle

Varied orchestral piece of music with choppy strings that smooth’s out to fevering chugs and rhythmic pulsing.  This is a clever bit of writing and the vocals aren’t too grating which is good as it doesn’t take away from the beautiful melodic chasms that breathe new life into the track and make it unique.

Rampart

Up in Arms       

Unquestionably crisp and vibrant with uplifting tempos that sky rocket with venom and richly aspire to reach new heights in its unrelenting chugging of jagged rhythms. The guitar is just alive and squeals vehemently to a back drop of hard edged bass however the ending is cut short very suddenly.

Storm Force      

The rhythms are superb here but sadly the vocals are slightly out of tune which lets the track down somewhat so the intensity is muted. The guitar is its redeeming feature and is executed with precision and flair.

Give Nothing Back     

Tempestuous rhythm and fiery drum beats really smack between the eyes, but again the vocals detract from what could be an amazing track and do not do the band any favours, so as outstanding the music is you can’t help but press skip to dodge the shrieking.

March on to Victory (Epilogue)

Impacting build-up with a low key vocal which actually works and gives the track a compelling intrigue – has Maria redeemed herself here? Again stupendous guitar work that is phenomenal in delivery, twisting and turning it sends chills down your backbone and ravages you senseless. – Great track!

To sum up:

The music here is nothing less than astounding, it pulverizes, it excites and holds tons of variation, however the awful shrieking compromises the tracks greatly except on the first and final tracks of the album where they seem to work really well and offer great impact.

The expanse of the music contained on this album will awaken the senses and holds a devouring factor that simply cannot be ignored.  The powerful surging rhythms captivate and enthral and if this was an instrumental album would have to receive a perfect 10 however after having to skip a few tracks that has really disappointed me somewhat.

Conjurer

With a driven lust for shredding and blistering to the bone this track thunders into view, scouring the horizon and leaving a trail of dust behind it. Vocally similar to Biff Byford of Saxon with that shrill scream also sounding similar to early Halford of Judas Priest. Gut wrenching and superbly executed by Razorwyre.

Knights of Fire

A tad – no a lot maniacal, energy ridden and metal laden this blisters ferociously destroying all in its wake as the flurry of riffs come powering forth accompanied by a constant rush of drum beats.

Fight or be fucked

Catchiness steeped in Priest rhythms highly delicious riffs balance the track with a biased heart of unbridled passion. The rhythms will chew you up without losing their hunger. The bass swipes an angry hook as the beat remains at constant temperature but slowing sufficiently to allow a sway of rhythmic chords to prevail, however the vocals have weakened slightly.

Nightblade

Very Maidenish this one as it flurries in a rampaging frenzy instigated by a tower of beat ridden smacks and challenging rhythms that twist at every opportune moment. The guitar is highly mesmerising as it taunts you with highly sophisticated riffs that are extremely intimidating in delivery.

Another Dimension

The title track is very 80’s driven with a flicker of Saxon/Priest vocal again although a lot less fast paced than on some of the previous tracks it still manages to pack a punch to the jawline. Further on in the track the bass goes wild and the guitar literally begs for mercy in the old school style of rhythmic chugging.

The Infinite – Desert Inferno

Smouldering intensely as you wait for the onslaught of speeding metal – it doesn’t disappoint with its towering riffs that turn somewhat into a frenzy of madness which always leaves me open mouthed as to how anything could be played that fast. More priest like vocal comes into play with plenty of stinging bass and vehement drumming.

The Fort

A nice chugging rhythm with a good strong vocal onslaught accompanies a rock solid beating of skins. Power crazed and provocative on all levels. The guitar literally fires up and ignites more stupendous riffing with shredding in abundance but seamless and flows like liquid gold.

Speedwarrior

The speed continues with a thrashing of drums that pound feverishly for their life whilst the vocal barrage follows and more than coaxes the bass to follow suit – this is urgent and provokes a shaking of the head!

Windcaller

Not sure about this title – however I had better leave the images it conjours up and concentrate on the music. It is a fiery track that holds a nice chug and Halford appears again screaming hungrily to a barrage of uncompromising melodic frenzy.

Hangman’s Noose

Strategically building and structuring its course with a continuous beat and strong vocals creates an impact but this time back to early Maiden.

Too sharp! - Razorwyre

To sum up:

A good trip back to early Priest, Maiden and Saxon roots which isn’t a bad thing at all. A lot of fiery passion is contained in all the tracks on the album and sustains impact through-out with driving rhythms and pumping beats it weaves a nice path with chugging qualities and superb melody with punishing finishes of unruly clarity.

To be expected this album delivers superbly on all levels creating a solid foothold for others to follow in their wake.

The covers that literally swathed bits of black sometimes coloured plastic are not as popular anymore but back then every metal head would be scouring the shelves of their local record shop or record fayre for album covers such as this – CD’s may be better quality and easier to carry around but nothing will ever beat the old vinyl records of the 80’s.

This is indeed another dimension of what was and still is a strong foundation for 80’s metallers to build upon. Still gut busting and superb in execution though and Razorwyre is still subsequently feeding into the 80’s metal grid and receiving its 100 volts of metal ferocity!

Nothing like a bit of old school metal to take you back to how things were and the very title of this reminds me of how metal heads were back in the 80’s, living, sleeping, eating and breathing metal – not much has changed apart from the Internet bringing more metal to your door, oh yes and wind-milling and mosh pits but music has got a lot more extreme with time, however old school metal has its moments.

Although I love the meaty growly cookie monster vocals of the present the throaty clean vocals portrayed on this track are just superb and it puts across a metal message you can’t ignore! The good punchy guitar and solid beats say it all.

Too heavy to load

What I wouldn’t give to play guitar like this – like an express train.  This has a brilliant chug and loads of metal melody heaped in menacing emotion. I can’t stop my head from moving! Enticing and compelling riffs rain down intricately weaving through some amazing drum beats.

Feed the Beast

Spellbinding building rhythms combine with some fantastic beats and harmonic vocals.  A slower composition but still provokes a lot of emotion.

No God No Devil (Worship Metal)

A good fusion of damming riffs and large solid drum beats that together chug into existence, with melodies larger than life. The clean vocal however spits venom as it melts into harmonies and has a message that us metal heads have been doing for years, but this track just reiterates the fact with cleverly thought out lyrics and loads of wah wah – those were the days!

Bangers Prevail

Deep and unbridled with that familiar chugging and loads of shredding to accommodate a rasping vocal that screams out vengeance with utterly stupendous rhythms and a copious amount of drumming – old school style of course!

Destructive Blitzkrieg

The mere title alone should tell you this is going to be another rip roaring track – and it is! It will slice your ears from ear to ear and forget to stop. It buzzes like a million bees and possesses a rapturous rhythm that is constant and hardy.

Keep on Sinning

Tiny shreds but humongous sound as the drumming slashes fiercely and then turns into a welcome chug effect eroding the senses in true metal style and offers more primal ravishing moments.

The Fires of Krakatoa

The eerie wind sounds atmospheric and an awesome array of strings utter forth with brooding and melodic rapture. I can imagine Schenker playing this, it is very Schenkeresque.  The vocal is a harsh yet soft whisper and blends perfectly to ambient strings – beautiful track that takes you on a journey of reflection However... suddenly all hell breaks loose and a regimented beat ushers forth along with some harsh unrelenting riffs – I think Krakatoa just exploded!

Heavy Metal to the World

Fast and compelling beats start up and then almighty riffs begin to a really harsh and uncompromising low growled vocal which devours everything in its path. The rhythms are uplifting and solid and a good variation. The guitar has just exploded in a fast, frenzy of hot and fiery riffage and a great fitting end to a fabulous array of good old school metal!

To Sum up:

This album is nothing that has not been done before, I will give you that! But it is great to hear the old school stuff once more and Axecuter indeed take you back on that glorious journey of “what was once metal” that we don’t hear very often within the metal scene anymore. But you do tend to move with the times – I however am thoroughly greedy and love it all!

Axecutor!

The tracks are beautifully crafted and constructed and are reflective of a bygone era. There is no escape from the old school methods that weaned millions of metal heads around the world and it is still being played today by a lot of the younger generation as well as the old, and further on through its foundations brought more extreme metal to our well bashed ears – metal in any form will never die!

If you love Motorhead, Tank, Venom and Sodom then you will definitely have your appetite well and truly satisfied with Axecutor.

But it is nice to just lose yourself in some beautifully arranged string composition or wallow in some “annihilative” fast drumming accompanied by some harsh vocal and surrounded by high octane levels of raucous metal leaving one exhausted and condemned by the assault and I am one such person! “Remember old school metal will never die, it just lies in wait, stalks and then devours! Metal is Invincible!” Amen to that!

Imposing and abrasive the squeak of the vibrant guitar takes hold of the listener. Slow and deliberate it literally invites you with tempting ease as the flurries of beats hit you one by one like a machine gun. This track has a nice texture mixed with aggressive flavour.

God Complex

The building rhythms simply plough through your brain like a tractor on open fertile ground. Battling through the sinewy rhythms that loom meaningfully through a barrage of blast beats that kick you to death.  Vocally huge and imposing with a commanding virtue and possesses a nice slow swagger of rigidity.

Echoes of Despair

Deliberate and intense this gallops into life and leaves a gnarly path for you to follow. Rampant and repugnant its scathing rhythms will burn and sizzle in extreme measures as it builds to a high frenzy.  Compulsive listening!

Indoctrinate

Continuing the brutality this track twists and burrows into a murky depth comes up for air and crashes back through thick waves of extreme intensity. Assisted by deep resonating growls of pure hatred it will rip you apart. Fierce riffs will alleviate you of your audial canal and send you into a deep gaping chasm of no return.

The Great Sleep

Shrill and striking guitar opens this track with a plundering beat in hot pursuit and closely followed by a damming vocal that scourges the depths of depravity. With immense conviction this track develops into a monster of driving riffs and immeasurable rhythms that in turn brings a new release for pent up aggression or it just may fuel it – I will bet on the latter!

A spectacle of Lies

The prime issue here is melody that pursues a rich dark gruff vocal bathed in temptuous rhythms of harsh unrelenting power. The brawling intensity continues in a solid guitar riff format that will hit you forcibly in the guts.

Serving Divinity

The presence of more “expected” pleasure as the track swarms viciously around your head and attacks with a deadly sting and is colossal. Drenched in highly invigorating rhythms a plenty the onslaught is dramatic and provocative and delves further into a maelstrom of unadulterated ferocity.

All that awaits us

Voracious and compelling with suffocating rhythms that compel with eager anticipation – I don’t think I have come up for air yet! It is indeed an excellent release to rid yourself of any harbouring maliciousness as it eats away at your vicious anger.

To sum up:

If you are feeling angry when listening to this it may fuel the blood more so, but it also contains therapeutic qualities.  Damming and superb in all its glory from start to finish.  But being a band with over 94,000 likes on Facebook and being on Nuclear Blast Records I did not expect anything less than perfection and this is what I got!
