In depth Biography:

All of the original members went to school with one another. They met up at their local (and current) rehearsal space and started jamming out various covers. It was in the spring of 2011, when they were in year 10 that they decided to form a legitimate band under the name 'Solitary Confinement'.

They began gigging in the summer of 2011, debuting as the opening act at a small open air fest in their hometown. Not before long they familiarized themselves with smaller Liverpool venues such as the Zanzibar and the Masque and throughout the autumn and winter of that same year, exposed themselves to a broader fan base across the pond and to promoters alike. Nine times out of ten with them being the youngest band to perform at showcases as most of them were just 15 years of age at the time.

Solitary Confinement adapted to new styles throughout 2012, taking on board a far more progressive, experimental approach to songs than previously with their progressive debut 'The Blackened' featuring extensive acoustic section transitions and articulation, reaching a play time of roughly eight minutes. After performing this song live only on a few occasions, they soon realized its high physical demand for performance and difficulty to execute live, so decided not to perform the song live but to continue writing in the same style regardless.

With the Summer of 2012 drawing to a close and the members soon leaving school, they marked their one year anniversary performing at the same open air festival of their debut, however this year, the festival was magnitudes greater than the previous year, much larger stage/area and far more people.

The autumn and winter months of 2012 saw them gigging extensively around Liverpool, playing with bands such as Oceanis, Grind Horizon, Immortal Conspiracy and Lazarus Syndrome, their fan base growing by every performance. This time also marked the era of them incorporating one of their signature traits, 'Djent'. With bands such as Hacktivist, TesseracT and Carcer City inspiring them to combine progressive metal with Djent. They have stayed with this hybrid genre ever since. Debuting their first song to combine these two musical elements 'Parasites', being the first.

Shortly after Christmas, the band were discovered by Promotion Company 'I Love Live Events', who gave them their Picket debut in mid-January. Ticket sales went well, making a good impression of them to the promoters, and as a result were given The Picket headliner just a few months after.

The next few months, they wrote an EP's worth of material for recording. Booking two sessions at Vulcan Industries, recorded a three track EP entitled 'Crack the Sky' featuring the single of the same name. All of which happened just in time for the headliner. Come the day, they had the honour of playing with acts such as 'Arcane Addiction' and 'Beneath the Depths' who the band have kept in close contact with ever since.

After following a few gigs post-headliner, they decided to change their name to something more fitting for the Prog/djent style, settling on 'Skyline'. In the summer of 2013, they decided to take out a multi-month interval from gigging to construct their very own recording studio and to write a further EP. The now completed studio resides under the name 'Solitary HQ', of which they plan all of their future recordings to take place.

Following into the autumn months of 2013, a combination of band issues and in-differences drove to the and to an unfortunate break-up. They did however, all remain friends throughout this period regardless of the band situation, but putting an end to a career of three years. This however was only a short-lived event, February 1st, 2014 marked a brighter time for the band as they decided to put their differences aside and having time (five month interval) to clear their heads, they reformed, back under the name Solitary Confinement, to continue from exactly where they left off.

Shortly after reforming, the band page jumped 250 likes in a matter of days, which say the band - astonished them all, but no surprise – people know good metal when they hear it!

The band are currently writing/preparing material for the studio, featuring studio session Vlogs and teaser demos coming soon, with other bright aspirations on the none-too distant horizon.

Solitary Confinement did at one point change their name to Skyline but since then decided to revert back to their old name.

‘Skyline’

This is one highly exciting track that has breathed new life into the lungs of a band that I have certainly missed seeing live. The mesmerising weighty grooves of metal riffery, can still be experienced through-out the track by Lash and Pat as well as a captivating vocal from Ryan.

It comes together exceptionally well and highlighting the changes the band have gone through since its hay day and humble beginnings.

This sound is meatier and hosts a more imposing musical texture with stronger bass hooks from Connor and offering a good slab of robust drumming from Lewis into the mix too!

To Sum up:

Solitary Confinement have really blossomed since performing live as young kids at my Helrazer event back in 2011, and they were pretty epic then! Now just as the band have matured, so has their music, but without losing the raw side of what makes them an interesting band to experience.

Solitary Confinement have experimented with sounds such as thrash, metal core, hard core, and groove and finally decided that with the bands maturity and varying musical tastes to settle on progressive with hints of Djent.

It has proved to be the right direction for them and will no doubt gain the band further recognition as they start gigging again and get out there once more.

The single is powerful and shows great imagination with meaty anthemic lures, the elements working perfectly well together - it just goes to show that you are never quite alone where Solitary Confinement are concerned.

I can thoroughly recommend this band and if you have never seen them live before then that treat awaits you. It’s all for the taking and Solitary Confinement know just how far to take it and that’s all the way! Superb!

A comeback gig is in the offing for the summer, so I am informed – Can’t effing wait!

“One of the most notorious black metal bands hailing from Brazil, Unearthly was established by the end of 1998, with M. Mictian on bass and Lord Thoth on guitars and vocals.

The group's first demo, “Blessed are the Destroyers of False Hope”, was released in June 2000, and the second one, “Living under the Sign of Blasphemy” was launched in august 2001. Both works had good acceptance within the scene and received good reviews, which guaranteed Unearthly many concerts in their native country. But it was only in 2002 that “Infernum – Prelude to a New Reign”, their debut full-length album, was released in Brazil and in the US and Canada.

In 2011, after two years working on new material, Unearthly finally entered Hertz Studio (Bialystok, Poland) to record the album "Flagellum Dei", with Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawski (Vader, Hate, Decapitated). With eleven tracks, "Flagellum Dei" was released in Brazil in November 2011, and was also released in Russia and Ukraine. Once again the band's work was received with great acceptance, getting a 10/10 in magazines and other very good reviews worldwide.

In 2012, the band visited Europe for the first time in the "Baptising the East in Blood" tour, where 15 gigs where scheduled in Russia and in the Ukraine. In the city of Voronezh, the group recorded its first DVD and also a live CD, both entitled "Baptising the East in Blood – Live at Voronezh, Russia", released in 2013 in Brazil, Russia and the Ukraine. Still in 2013, the band scheduled a massive 2-month tour that travelled through the countries of Russia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, besides many others.

With a solid 15-year career, Unearthly has evolved their music into black/death metal heavily influenced by Brazilian music. The band's name has deep roots in their native country, and is now growing in countries like Brazil, Mexico, USA, Canada, Peru, Slovakia, Russia and Ukraine - that due to the band's releases as well as the tours, which have visited Brazilian places like Acre and Santa Catarina (the first being in the country's extreme north, and the second being in the country's south), besides countries like Bolivia, Roumania, Latvia, amongst many others, many of them which are not common in a band tour route. Above all things, Unearthly is a band that respects and wants to be with their fans. Wherever they are, that is where Unearthly will be.

For 2014, the band is currently preparing great material perfectly balanced between extreme black/death metal and Brazilian music. This release will definitely solidify Unearthly's name as one of the greatest bands in the hall of extreme metal.

The European version of the album will be available on CD (Digi-pack) and LP. Get ready for eleven tracks of extreme black/death metal heavily influenced by Brazilian music!”

Seven Six Two

Not the opening I expected with its ambient strings, however there is still time for the malevolence to strike – and it does with its symphonic glory of blackness.

Baptised in Blood

This track is intense, strong and captivating driven by a bleakness that subsequently dabbles in the art of blackness. Vocally strong and toxic it resembles a demonic scathing that slips into the aural cavities with utter abandon and a sonic battering of forceful beatings and surprisingly back to the ambient strings once again.

Flagellum

Equally as demonic as the last track this one has a kick like a mule and is highly satisfying as its strength is driven by pure evil intent as the guitars scream in agony of a persistent and grueling journey into oblivion.

Black Sun Part 1

With a pummeling like no other this track springs unmercifully into existence, ravishing all it surveys. Flirting with muscle bound intent the rapaciousness is spearheaded by gruesome vocal dexterity.

Osmotic Haltesis Part II

Formidable and to the extreme this blackened mass of enticements, exudes lustful passions of eager essences that are vital in producing some fueled aggression and indeed vocally savage.

My Fault

With melodic fluid grooves this track offers a slower and more precise feel with guitar riffs that simply explode into an extreme savagery, that literally stomp at the gates of hell.

Eye for an Eye

Another rigorous offering of brutal insurgency feasting greedily on the aural and brings with it a banquet of emotive responses. Engaging and pleasurable it takes the listener further into the darkest realms.

Lord of all Battles

With an interesting and ambient flavor, this track opens, it then looms ferociously into a tempestuous malevolence of fire and brimstone. Embracing a harsher edge of caustic prowess.

“It gives the listener a respite from the totally brutal and gently pulls them down to less extremes, whilst still carrying that malicious side.  To look at the band you would think they wouldn’t know what gentle was but underneath all those studs, chains and maquillage or Corpse Paint as it is better known are three savage beasts who turn into angelic musicians when the mood takes”

Limbus

An aboriginal feel to this track as it gathers momentum. The dark hum of sound is lavished in black ambiance and ripe with intrusive rhythms.

Insurgency

Vocally frightening, this track just leaps out of the speakers and throttles the aural with the most potent of screams. The dramatic sweeping of rhythms languish brutally, covering a formidable sound-scape of vibrant riffs and malevolent beats.

Exterminata

This is dark and brooding, the ambient sounds and soft beautiful strings return the listener to realms within their boundaries accentuating harmony, although what is round the corner is predatory, intensive and compelling.

To Sum up:

There are quite a lot of surprises on this album that go from beauty to brutal and back again with a lot of gruesome parts in between.  Bristling with energy and voracity, let’s not forget that, but then like a soft caress throws you off guard.

The softer moments are indeed breath taking and simply cannot be ignored, obviously the music the band class as Brazilian, mixed together with the harsher, darker blackened death metal elements are something quite unique.

It gives the listener a respite from the totally brutal and gently pulls them down to less extremes, whilst still carrying that malicious side.  To look at the band you would think they wouldn’t know what gentle was but underneath all those studs, chains and maquillage or Corpse Paint as it is better known are three savage beasts who turn into angelic musicians when the mood takes.

The solo project Obszön Geschöpf was created by Remzi Kelleci in 1996/1997 in Boulogne Sur Mer, France

Remzi recorded his first demo in 1999/2000 entitled "Day of Suffering" This demo was primarily intended for labels. After much encouragement of various labels, but no actual proposal, he continued to work on new tracks focusing primarily on electro and putting aside guitars from metal beginnings.

2002 OG participated in the "springboard" D side of the magazine contest and was selected from over 300 participants, which earned him to be on the magazine sampler track "Godless Society"

After that OG received several contract proposals and finally signed to the young French label "Cold Room" for the release of his first real album "Yell of Fright” with international distribution.

In 2004 the second album "Son of Evil" was released on the American label BLC Productions. This album was very successful and OG became well known in the scene "Dark -Electro-Indus" He participated in several compilations and remixed several international groups like Alien Product, Synaptic Defect, and HIV.

2005 OG released his 3rd album "Tomb of the Dead" This album was more violent and dancy than the first two albums. OG then took the decision to release the album himself under the name of Mortuary Records. This album received a lot good feedback from radio, magazines, and webzines ... and as a result OG become increasingly well-known especially with the explosion of Myspace.

Between 2006 and 2008 OG participated in several compilations and made ​​several remixes for international industrial groups like Dope Stars Inc.  Vigilante, Circus of Dead Squirrels and Technophobia.

At the same time OG concerts began with a special line-up, and played all over Europe (France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, and Slovenia) and worked on the fourth album "Erection Body Mutilated”

After a bad experience and waste of time with a label that was supposed to have released this album in 2007 but never did for any logical reason, OG cancelled the contract and re-signed to the label - BLC Productions (USA).

This album was released in January 2009 as a double CD with lots of remixes done by big names in the scene and Industrial Metal - Joachim Witt, Heimataerde, Cyber ​​Axis, Steril, FGFC 820, Vigilante, Inertia, and Xentrifuge.

OG began touring Europe in early 2009 to promote this album, after which earned them an excellent reputation throughout the world in Metal and the Industrial scene with concerts, and especially to Myspace – of which OG has more than 100,000 friends and over 500,000 visits at the last count!

The 5th album Symphony of Decay saw the light in September 2010. This album was released on the label Metal Twilight Vertrieb (Germany). This album was produced by the famous producer Andy Classen - Rotting Christ, Holy Moses, Asphyx, Disbelief, Tankard, Belphegor, and Dew Scented. There are 16 songs on this album including two remixes of two of the largest groups of American Industrial Metal, Skrew and Mushroomhead/Ventana.

OG were everywhere in Europe, promoting the album and made their first U.S. tour in March 2011 and played in the largest American cities – Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Sacramento, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Long Beach.

By the End 2011 to September 2012, Remzi started to devote his time to writing of the 6th album Highway of Horrors”

There is always one thing you can rely on when listening to Obszön Geschöpf and that is the mesmerizing rhythms that invade the heart as well as Remzi’s superb vocal dexterity.

It’s harsh and exciting in every sense of the word, as with the opening track ‘Human Beast’ Remzi is that beast although human – I think not, he is a wild untamed animal and it shows in his writing.

Listening to these tracks allows a door into the mind of a fascinating man that can sculpt words and music that simply engages and enthrals to such an extent it is hard not to get caught up in the maniacal antics produced by such an out-pouring of vehemently savage lyrics and music.

The body will respond just as violently as it is sucked into the seething pustules of hate that emanates through its heaving core as on ‘Two headlights appear on the road to the Carnival’ the samples are well in keeping with their surroundings and just as angular as the music it incorporates.

Remzi is well known for his famous groans of “Urghhhhhhhh” of which he throws out there with regular occurrence, and really dominates the track ‘Highway of Horror’

The spellbinding hard-core essence lives and breathes through Remzi’s vocal extravaganza like on ‘How I eat your Mother’ - I am sure the man is possessed but even if this is not the case the blackness will rub off on the listener to such an extent that they will know only brutality of the fiercest kind when sampling these ingenious tracks.

Fuelled with potent enterprise, this album really gives your ears something to feast on, whilst basking in absolute pleasure as it’s proved time and time again that OG are just as sadistic as the music they have created.

With sinister intent, the pulses of powerfully satisfying rhythms resonate weightily and nothing is left on the back burner to fester, it all comes right at you with a resounding level of malice.

‘Slashers Night’ is perhaps one of the most diverse tracks on the album offering a more hip hop sound, however it still holds that OG bewitching trait that smacks of heavy passion and an ‘Urghhhhhh’ thrown in for good measure.

More diversity to be had here as ‘Bloody Black Skin’ takes on definitive bass coupled with hip hop but not far away from its persistent demonic roots.

‘Sleazy Man’ is somewhat shrill and slips into a marching drum beat with robust driven vocals that are drenched in sinister ambience.

Deep and passionate the track ‘Insane Impulse’ sends a chill down the spine with expressive tones of brooding vocal and smouldering keyboards.

‘Easy Ride Corpse’ is an absorbing track raucously scathing and thick with emotive force despite there being a simple edge running through its core. Vocally entrancing with an appetite for drama.

‘Dead and Buried’ is heavy and deeply soaked in metal rhythms, veined by rigorous samples and haunting in every sense of the word, imposing a rampant urgency through-out.

‘Curse with a Teenage Slut’ goes back to metal roots with a strenuous melting rhythm that’s ripe to move the head to and great for abusing the senses as the vocals are regimented and more robot like.

‘Painkiller’ holds more superb samples whilst a rampaging rhythm scalds as its intriguing presence whips past the senses.

To Sum up:

This is one beast of an album, holding a variety of voracious tracks that are never restrained and radiate enchanting seduction. Each track is deftly carved to produce a full on impact of ravishing encounters.

With the introduction of hip hop adding to its fit to bursting seams it is one muthafucker of diverse and brutally intense offerings known to man.

For me the best thing to have come out of France is Obszön Geschöpf as they really push boundaries with thought provoking intentions that in turn push you to your listening limits: ‘urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh’

A woman with a lust for killing

If you think you are going to get a review on magic tricks think again, although Martin does weave his own kind of spellbinding magic within the lines on this silver disc, and it’s breath-taking, but not as you may think!

I have been reviewing Martin Daniels since 2010 and what’s apparent is that from the likes of Derelict Sermon till now things are definitely getting more brutal with age.

Martin’s healthy/unhealthy peek into the world of dominant women continues and he refuses to be swayed by the mainstream putting his own slant on things and this album is very much Martin Daniels, with the strong help of female dominance.

The raging inferno begins on ‘Welcome to the Execution Organisation’ – do not mess with this women she means business. If there should be a warning on an album it should be this one – Miss VX is not for turning – her words are scorching as scathing. It isn’t a nice bedtime story! With its eerie and terrifying sounds to accompany a voice that will kill you as soon as look at you, it will chill to the bone, even the hardest of souls.

The second track ‘If you do not pay the ransom money we will amputate their limbs’ is a follow on from the previous one, with harsh over tones of wretched antagonistic noises, the only difference being Queen Boa Toyin is now at the helm. A chill runs down the spine with blood curdling ferocity as her sharp tones slice through the air amid sonic rumblings of pure hatred for mankind.

Vera Bremerton is back! ‘Your family are prisoners in our gas chamber’ I feel she is the nastiest of them all – even Hitler would be scared of this one, and not her first appearance on one of Martin’s albums either, listen to Derelict Sermon - tracks ‘Leering Completion’ and ‘Entry of Empress’

Vera has a real healthy appetite for blood and death, her voice is the evilest imaginable with Martin cooking up some even more spine chilling effects to accompany them.  Don’t listen to this in a dark room as it is likely to send you over the edge!

Vera is present again on this track ‘Inhale the poisonous odours’ but it is made a little easier to swallow and she speaks in a foreign tongue so the imagery is less vivid, although the sounds themselves make this a pure evil and vile track.

‘A woman with a passion for terror’ is Sarah Grimstone – great name, and very apt! She is very English – stiff upper lip English in fact and as the track furthers her voice turns more acidic, helped along with a dose of ambient sonic pulses.

‘A woman with a lust for Killing’ the subsonic whistling wisps past your ears whilst Sarah tortures her victim with her lecherous caustic ramblings, in the crudest way imaginable – a real spine tingler! ‘Chloroform and cable ties anyone?

‘Pro human cruelty for sexual satisfaction’ rips through the atmosphere and sees Carolyn Burns do her worst! Imposing and threatening, and yet her voice is softer but her words are harsh! The sonic twisting of electronic wizardry is in focus and set the scene for bloody murder!

“This is typically Martin Daniels who pushes boundaries further than anyone I know. The CD is a murderous rampage that savagely rips the throat out of the listener and provokes the harshest imagery possible, leaving nothing to the imagination and should come with a health warning as well as an X Certificate”

‘Home invasion: Torture and Killing at 5am’ I would not like to be present for this little number. It is unrelenting and hefty in aggression, although it has to be said here that Alejandra Muss O’Lini’s voice does not sound as convincing as the other’s.  To me she sounds as if she is just reading words from an auto cue, however the riotous screeching of electronics is enough to let the listener know that the unmerciful are out for more blood.

‘Leonica has sent us to kill you’ is rather an eerie ambient track, commanding and forthright and quite hypnotising.  The motivation is obviously death but again said in a monotone voice with no feeling behind it, which is a shame as this track deserves more.

‘Executive Killing Ambush – (Kill everyone in the car)’ with Magda Caruska – her voice mocking and evil with an air of potent urgency sizzles and bristles with death – nobody will survive this!

To Sum up:

Dramatic and yet seductive Martin has returned with what can only be described as total annihilation in disc format! It isn’t for the feint-hearted.  The lyrics are murderous and harsh and yet gripping as it gives an insight into the minds of the evil Execution Organisation.

I am glad I listened to this during the day and not at twilight. It is very powerful and embracing and as you would expect emotional and sadistic. It’s also shocking but on the other hand it is a change from the norm!

The CD is a murderous rampage that savagely rips the throat out of the listener and provokes the harshest imagery possible, leaving nothing to the imagination and should come with a health warning as well as an X Certificate.

There isn’t any music as such on this CD it is all drone and grisly ambient mutations – but for all those mentally twisted people out there it will certainly get tongues wagging!
