Biography:

Recently formed in January 2012 ‘Inacave’ hail from the Scandinavian Viking territories of Denmark and so naturally you expect the best and that is exactly what you get!

Weight of the Boulder 

Scales the depths with rigorous riffs that boldly house a volatile leaning and unveils a fast and profound run of enthusiastic rhythms that brood under a deep malevolent vocal edge that is constantly enthralling.

Mountain Throne

This sneaky track engages first and foremost with a powerful riff that sonically embeds itself into the brain with a rather caustic effect and boasts a real onslaught that is literally capable of murder!

Master

Kick beats a plenty here that reign down over the proceedings in more than just a sweet skirmish but locks horns in a bid to intimidate. Its character is muscle bound and deadly!

Enlightenment Part I

Is a rather eerie ambient run of sinister madness weaving slowly and holding a deviant prowess?  It is blues orientated however; its dark magic is quite simply irresistible.

Enlightenment Part 2

The rhythmic wonders are balanced by the ripe vocal chords of iron lunged Daniel Lønberg who it seems, has befriended Satan and exacts revenge on the un-weary! It leaves nothing but unbridled bloodshed in its wake and is far removed from the previous track.

Anoxia

Is a rampaging twist of deep scarring beauty as it mesmerises with fathomless bass hooks and a gruff damming vocal luring. The drumming is bludgeoning and joined by a torrent of riffs that antagonise to the point of sheer aggression.

When

In comes the familiar squeal of guitar riffs that batter the senses in an all-out brawl of malignancy. The bellowing growls are hearty and steadfast as well as extremely impressive.

Frame the Memory

This track heads straight for the jugular and gets right under the skin and will for any metal head that likes their metal raucous and out of control will soothe even the most savage breast! The ravenous chunks of ferocity rears its head make no mistake!

Live in Regret

Is another fast track that digs its own path with a magnetic passion that rhythmically soars to great heights? It evolves into a primal lust that breeds contempt while at the same time creates a sonic landscape.

Dirt

Bridges the gap with a torrent of blasting beats that bite into the psyche like a hungry and rabid dog! Like with most of the tracks before it, explores a vivacious and yet psychopathic nature.

Waters

Doggedly determined to ravish and infect the emotions on a gigantic scale, this track extracts a riveting malice that is infused with humongous guttural savagery.

Summary:

It is hardly surprising that ‘Inacave’ have produced a predatory and delicious selection of tracks that hold no bounds and exceeds expectations. They are from Viking stock after all and therefore typical of producing a wild orgy of pleasure for the audial!

These guys don’t just compose metal they forge a cast iron fist over proceedings and never stop exploring the harsher side of their talent.

It is one beast of an album that compels with rich lures and gives the ears a good old battering – quite an achievement in just three years.

The journey ‘Inacave’ are on is a rich and rewarding one but one that is going to produce more savagery as the band grows in strength if that is possible as they are the high end of their game at the moment!

This is a highly satisfying album with lots to savour and embrace although it runs with typical scathing slabs of rhythmic metal it also showcases a mellower side and therefore has potential to create further diversity down the line!

Genre:Divorce Core/Divorce Death Metal.

From the start it is filled with explosive exploits and hungry attitude, but hardly surprising for this band whose reign began in 1995 under the shocking name of ‘Inferior Breed’ thank fook they changed it in 1996 to Soilwork (meaning working from the ground up) and they have certainly done that!

I am not usually a lover of ‘Live’ albums due to the sound being drowned out by the crowd, but no chance of that happening on ‘Live in the heart of Helsinki’ for sure.

The rewards are gained pretty much in an instant as the humongous riffs and rhythms from this Swedish sextet fully engage and set a new record for being extremely raw and defining Divorce Death Metal!!

We are all aware the Swedes know just how to dot the I’s and cross the T’s where metal is concerned and Soilworkhave it made down to the last unruly mega-beat!

All the tracks continue in a mode of self-destruction and ploughs through a malevolent tirade of intimidation. If you don’t believe me check out ‘Spectrum of Eternity’ in fact do yourself a favour and buy the album and immerse yourself in the bands menacingly emotive grooves! You will thank yourself afterwards and then you can pat yourself on the back!

The feisty vocal encounters from Björn "Speed" Strid are pure and powerfully exceptional with monstrous rhythms and deep fevered riffs to back them up! No wonder the hordes are pumped to an all-time high!

The hooks are impacting and embraced by a stupendous drum beat that shows no sign of weakness, in fact this ‘Bastard’ chain would be mighty hard to break even if you wanted to?

Soilworkhave captured the essences of hosting a melodic drama that plays out with captivating intensity and goes all out to turn up the heat to gigantic proportions.

Each encounter on this mighty 23 track is brutish and unmerciful and it would be fair to say, energised with extreme passion and blunt force trauma, so much so no-one can ignore it!

The band pride themselves in brewing up a frenzied storm that everyone can get involved in.  The raucous frenzy is predominant throughout the volatile offering with Soilwork calling the shots and calling a spade a spade, would it be anything else?

No word of lie, this album will taunt, tease and go straight for the jugular, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Biography:

“Incinerate formed in 1998 by Scott Ellingboe (Guitars/ Vocals also in Dominion) and Randy Grolemund. Jesse Watson joined shortly after as 2nd guitar and later would field the bands Vocal duties. Scott brought to the table songs he had written previously and with the new collaboration Incinerate was born. Jesse recruited friend Mike Presley (Bass, The Body Beneath). They started rehearsals and recorded their debut self-titled demo in 2000. After some touring and several festivals Randy the drummer left and was replaced quickly by Tom Olmsted who played live session for the band.

The band released their second album ”Anatomize” on the 17th October 2008 with sickening artwork by Tony Koehl, twisted guitar sounds, heavy guttural vocals, and amazing stand out performances by Erlend and Darren... the album got rave reviews and public interest!”

The Prophecy

It explodes, it grinds, and makes light work of the task ahead! Blistering noises feel like the world is coming to an end!

Inhuman Inoculation

Those tremendous low growls are so encompassing! The riffs are repugnant and harsh, blending into some superbly wicked beats that accompany it. Feeding the soul and more than satisfies.

The Arrival

Devilishly bewitching as the acrid splurge of sounds melts into the audial making them tender, like beating meat with a tenderiser! While the swirling madness just oozes from the increasingly volatile rampage.

From Distant World’s

This track fills all the senses and in particular ravages the ears in an all-out frenzy of yet melodic intensity. It chugs and feeds the brain with eager passions.

Eliminating the Indigenous

Deep bursts of high screams and low pitted growls accompany a raucous and disorientating wildness that is prevalent in every riff and beat. It has stalking qualities that a very hard to ignore, but then again why would you?

Unable to Ascend

A really superb opening with a sampled voice that says “Traditionally, during this meal, we are to place shrouds over our heads, hiding our faces from God. I don’t hide from God!” the track then bursts into an angry and frantic haze of malevolence.

Cultivation of Human Offspring

An urgent sounding sampled voice terrifyingly whispers about their fear until a savage chord breaks the pretence and floods the speakers with a grotesquely gargled blast of deep growls so low they resonate!  Dramatic and deeply profound!

The Berserker

Yet another male sampled voice appears to a dull throbbing beat telling his story.  The anticipation increasing growing until the music ignites its damming spark in a torrent of rage. It certainly is aptly titled!

Fucking the Rotting Nun

Can Brutal death metal get any more brutal? Yes it can with this dramatic title and another sampled voice howling “He told me to fuck her and I did. I fucked her, oh God, Oh God, oh God, he had a gun in my mouth the fucking gun was in my throat, Fuck!!!” I don’t need to embellish on this little story for sure. The music literally touches on all the scales and bounces into another universe!

Summary

Reviewing this mighty fine album, I feel so very much in my comfort zone.  It’s like sitting in your favourite armchair – you have sat in it so much that there is an in-print of your backside in the cushion!

Not only is the cover delish the tracks are spellbinding and outrageously heavy! This band tick all the boxes for me, with the scavenging growls invading the ears to freakish guitar riffs that pulverise and an ever increasing, hypnotic, fast beat, that is truly compelling and exciting to witness.

The incomprehensible vocal gurgling’s are wild, untamed and clear as dishwater, but thoroughly satisfying all the same.

Brutal death metal is bewildering at best, but so right are those guttural secretions that add depth and unfathomable evil to the proceedings.

Although extremely hostile to un-tuned ears to the ‘tuned in ears’ it is a symphony of pure delight.

Incineratelive up to their name in true metal form and come out the other side triumphant in having produced such a superb album.  The energy, the hunger, the anticipation is all there seeping from each of their heavy riffs and magnitude of rhythms.

Are greater things to come from Incinerate? I do hope so! In-fact, I know so!

Biography:

“From the early 80’s on they’ve been the leading figures of Germany’s thrash metal scene, shaping an entire genre that soon should spread all over Europe and inspiring countless young combos that eagerly followed their lead: THE BIG TEUTONIC 4! KREATOR, TANKARD, DESTRUCTION and SODOM – by now household names in metal – have relentlessly worked their way up from the underground to international fame, without ever losing their passion, truthfulness or integrity. That’s why their popularity has remained unabated and their songs remain pure, even after three decades in the business!”

Kreator – Lambs to the Slaughter (Raven cover)

The original Raven version is somewhat raw and primitive andKreator have given it a vicious kick up the ass, but we are talking Kreator here so that isn’t a very big jaw dropping moment withKreator having really made this cover their own, and losing the introductory and rather amateurish spoken words on the original.

Sodom – Don’t Walk Away (Tank cover)

Taken from Tank’s 1981 3 track release – I actually prefer the original version to Sodom’s, as Sodom seem to have extracted some of the passion from the track somehow making it sound far too polished. (80’s tracks were always slightly primitive, probably due to being produced on vinyl) although that superb bass hook is still there so they can be forgiven just this once!

Destruction – Princess of the Night (Saxon cover)

Destruction have made this Saxon track far more grittier than the original although it is hard to dismiss Saxon’s version as they are metal legends in their own right and given the 80’s a good old metal battering. So I will just have to say I love both versions just as much, which may be a cop out but both bands are indeed superb!

Tankard – Iron Maiden (Iron Maiden cover)

Although Iron Maiden took the world by storm in the 80’s after meeting Harris and Burr, my estimation of the band went down considerably, however, their music will live on for a long time to come yet and Tankard’s version is just as gripping as the original although I have always loved Dianno’s vocals, for me he is Iron Maiden in a nutshell!

Summary:

It comes as no big surprise why these bands have gained the status of the “Big Teutonic Four!” and have put together this E.P of sorts worshipping their idols and let’s face it we all have them! But and there is a rather large BUT here, Why do covers? Wouldn’t it have been better to have produced some new stuff and maybe dedicated it to their idols? As it could be deemed as “We can do your material better!”

Starting from the early 80’s the Big Teutonic Four have led the German Thrash scene and shaped music as we now know it today!

The mega kings of thrash metal have now produced their own versions of some of the greatest metal of... well maybe all time, and it comes in various coloured 10” vinyl too, black, red or yellow and on the great Nuclear Blast Label.

But for me I would still prefer to hear the original versions of tracks by the original bands and new tracks from the Big Teutonic Four!
