Far Out

I can see why the band called this track ‘Far Out’ as it ticks all the boxes for being one savage wow moment! It incorporates a seething squealing as well as perfectly tempered female vocals from Asya. Conjuring up formidable atmosphere and has a very moreish flavour about it. It breeds a superb intensity that is compulsive and broods without question! It is a very involved composition that tweaks the imagination make no mistake!

Birth

Along the same vein as the previous track with sharp atmospheric leanings, Asya sings in a very twisted tone and backed up with a solid beat and rasping riffs that make it very creative. Her vocal chords literally make your ears bleed as they pursue a very feisty path with seething and vibrant content, but never loses sight of the goal.

I

With an atmospheric ambiance the strings flow with ease on the third track of the bands album. It changes direction and follows a tempered beat that lies beneath Asya’s vocal range. It holds a beautiful melodic core that introduces beauty to the beast, with the fusions molding perfectly to produce a very unusual and heartfelt track indeed!

Nevermind

Holding a brooding malignance that ambles aimlessly through its guarded paces, until the guitar kicks in, it ravages the ears. The vocal textures are again twisted but tantalizing, while still being imaginative and contrasting. Very heavy fusions literally flood the speakers and are powerful and all embracing.

Chiming Through

Takes a while to thaw but once it does it brings a stabbing of strings that are produced in such an unusual way it sends goose bumps down the back bone and is what I would describe as bewitching. The guitars propel an all-round sound that is breath taking.

The Long Run

Is a beautiful track that is outlined with soft strings and a softly carved and slightly slurred vocal, with ambiance and stimulating endeavor? The timings change to that of hard edged drumming and hardy bass licks that merge with Asya’s vocal and gives the track good poetic licence to thrill.

I am going to say without a shadow of a doubt that Nameless Day Ritual deserve the title of ‘exciting newcomers of 2016’ as this is not just awakening the senses, it gives them a shake and then some! Don’t be fooled by the slower bits – this band have really thought about their compositions and know just where to hit in order to fully engage with their ever growing audience!

Biography:

Black Sheep (Remaster) – This track has enough bite for the listener to be totally engulfed as the thrash becomes apparent. Its bite is definitely just as good as its bark. It instantly allures and feeds on the metal soul.

Exit Life – Smoulders as it gets into its niche and ravages with blinding riffs and sizzling beats. It’s swift and unforgiving as it battles to make its mark. Rowdy and fuelled with contagiousness.

No Reprieve – is beguiling as it rumbles to its destiny. Fast and furious it finds its feet and leads us all on an exciting trail that you don’t want to end. It is a beast of track that pulverizes from all angles.

Requisition – Giving the bass a spot of its own this track has a certain amount of deliberate preciseness that is used to the full. Vocally challenging it’s harsh and tenacious with super charged with volatile persuasion.

Sledge – Shows the bands creative side as it mesmerically torments and teases the audial with lively and energetic persistency. The raucous vocal enhances the track as everything comes together in a spidery web of chanting savagery.

Through Death Ridden Fields – This track is a slow and ambient in delivery as it meanders to its goal. The strings glide over the senses and it leaves the listener refreshed with an unexpected caress.

With the thrash element injected into the tracks it really gives the listener something to feed off and add in a bit of death metal for good measure it just has the right amount of rousing creativeness to be a winner.

It simply flows like a lava flow in full pelt, wistful and stirring it gathers its energy from well-crafted rhythms that enchant and beguile and leaves a lot to the imagination.

Within its hardy tracks it warmly engages and through its ferocity injects a solid proposal of sheer onslaught to the metal masses.

I think Sledge for me is the perfect track, as it holds plentiful rhythm in abundance as from it, leaks a delicious excitement. Vocally thorough and pitch perfect the chants are moreish and it soon becomes clear it blossoms into a fierce track from which there is no turning back!

It will have you reaching for the repeat as the thunderous riffs and unyielding beats rain down in quick succession to reveal involved and flowing grooves that are loaded with a rife cocktail of metal!

From the off it savages the breast with putrid essences that flow, be it somewhat aggressively and harsh, but isn’t that what you expect from a death metal band?  It is an unstoppable album that flourishes with enjoyable and mischievous intent that just keeps on giving! Horrified are unperturbed and unyielding in their bid to ravage the ear drums. With emotions fit to bursting, involving toxic swagger and beastly seductive turmoil, it ignites with ingenious assault and will no doubt leave all your orifices bleeding!

Perpetuated by Greed – Starts with a sampled voice and some edgy beats, wiry sounds and striking rhythms. Erupting with vengeance it goes off on a rampage. The energy simply exudes from its mighty structure and a great way to open the E.P.

Enslaved the rest of Creation – Another tempestuous brawl can be experienced here as it gathers momentum and speeds through its melodramatic venture with ease but like most grind is never very long.

Chewed up by the Machine – The melodic swipes are prevalent and swamp the ears with a certain climatic beauty. The beats are enjoyable and allows the listener to nestle down buckle up and enjoy the ride, although again it is just a short track which is a shame as there is a lot attached to this track.

Destabilized Perception – boldly sweeping into the limelight this track holds all the spice that makes it lip smacking. It hurtles through its paces leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The vocals pulsing with phenomenal energy, its breed is impressive and impacting.

Devoid of Humanity – There seems to be a sharp intake of breath at the beginning of this track – hardly surprising as what it inflicts on the ears is sensational, but just a lick all the same. Again there could be a lot more added to this track allowing the listener a chance to nestle into its volatile creativity.

Complete Environmental Collapse – The diverse track has been left until the end. This one is slow and ambling with plenty ambiance as it swaggers heavily under its own weight. It stalks with deliberate prowess and then familiarity appears, it then takes off with a fast and punchy aggressiveness.

I have heard of Foul Body Autopsy so I did have an idea of what my ears would be up against. Crazy to think like a lot of other grind bands that one man is behind the helm and steering his creative ability to the forefront.

Tom Reynolds has certainly put a lot of effort into making this an E.P to be reckoned with. The name Foul Body Autopsy puts it safely in its genre under lock and key, but it is a genre where anything gruesome and grisly can be explored to the full.

I would say that FBA have added just the right amount of pizazz to make this one very appealing E.P! Tom has certainly nailed it!

To get to the point this is a UK band - hailing from Southampton. Their sprawling magnitude of hard core is more than a touch high spirited, giving you a good bitch slap round the chops. The carnivorous tempo thunders with hardening rhythms and in your face lyrics, and that’s just for starters!

The sizzle of electric guitar and pounding bass licks are at the heart of the proceedings and a perpetual drum beat smashes through the sound barrier, showing more than a hint of punk element.

Yes it is very predatory and volatile although it offers a doom element too! That is potent and very heavy. The weave of sounds are dynamic, heartfelt and boisterous in delivery.

This album doesn’t just blow your mind it will blow your speakers too! It gets to the crux of the matter instantaneously, burrowing feverishly into the ears, swamping them with brutal and malignant stamina.

The vocal chants are brutish while the music stomps, showing not only a mean side but also a mischievous one and revels in its psychotic stance.

Thrusting its energy into the spotlight, furiously inspiring with gripping excellence. The sultry grooves are compelling because of their abrasive nature.

There is no slowing down or becoming complacent, despite some tracks being short, there is a lot of melodic appetite that allows for head-banging be it the nu metal way of throwing your body into spasming contortions as the music effortlessly erupts around you, brings its own reward!

The track ‘Out of Luck’ starts off quite sinister and deliberate and although it still contains that ripe resonating heaviness of doom, shows great endeavour and contrast to the previous tracks.

This album is like the black-death it will spread its evil and infect every bugger under the sun – forget the cure, just enjoy its magic and let your body spasm with contentment!

‘Break Down your Pride’ is a well-balanced track with superb harmonies. Despite not liking a lot of acoustic tracks, I just can’t knock this. It explores beautiful rhythmic and hypnotic tendencies that are moreish as they are infectious. The vibrant lures are elegant and yet strong and flavoursome.

‘Walls’ ignites with an imposing groove that beats its chest to some extreme beauty be it in chord formation. It’s slightly rebellious but being acoustic it isn’t as noticeable as it would be if it was an all-out metal track but still possesses bite with beautiful clean tones and commanding rhythms.

‘Left Town’ This track outlines one of the bands influences Nickelback, who for some reason are smirked upon by many in rock circles, however, not this person. The guitars literally sculpt their way through the track and moulding it with twists of deep fascination.

‘Smile’ is a rather deep and meaningful track that makes you think as the profound lyrics caress the ears. It leaves a trail that cuts deep with haunting, atmospheric piano keys and is all consuming in its melancholic aftermath.

‘Wicked Side’ has that cheeky beat that flourishes with a twist of rhythms. It doesn’t have to try too hard to be liked. The melancholy is attractive and scores highly on a magnetic scale.

‘Along the Way’ delving into a softness that caresses and warms the soul as it unfolds. Strolling with an American swagger it will have you obeying the colossal diversity as each chord continues to impress. Engel’s vocals give way to some true grit which adds a great flavour to the track.

‘Blackwater’ holds a superb swagger of spiced up rhythms that are gripping and bounce with temperamental endeavour, providing inescapable hooks that mould around your ears like curling plumes of smoke.

Simply entitled Track 8, there seems to be a stray track that is not mentioned on the album and is a glorious instrumental that weaves, allowing for a reflective moment.

Summary

Despite the devastating loss of a good friend and band member Tom Finnelly/Guitar, the band have paid a great tribute to him with a very fitting memorial on the back of the CD cover.

This is one heartfelt album that does indeed cut deep with strong meaningful lyrics and powerful but melancholic rhythms. The urge is simply to press repeat especially for the track ‘Smile’ as its haunting embrace cloaks the ears and leaves a lasting impression.

The individuals of the band work well as a team and bring the most creative tracks together.  The emporium of sound is monumental as each harbour a professional touch.

It is provocative in places and cheeky in others, being a total contrast. It radiates a certain beauty that has attached itself to all the elements contained on this well thought out album.

This is a solid masterpiece that is consistently stirring up the emotions with spiced up guitar chords, balanced beats and gritty but also haunting vocal. It has true character and touches the senses with a beautifully raw creativity.

Taken from their albums such as U R Fuk, Nice Jacket Dickhead, Dripping Gash and Jihad Trombone, Petrol Bastard now bring the very worst of tracks together and called the album The Very Worst of Petrol Bastard – it doesn’t get worse than this for sure!

I still love Jihad Trombone, maybe because it introduced me to Petrol Bastard I don’t know, but I couldn’t stop playing it! No matter what the occasion there is always time to slap on a Petrol Bastard album!

The hard bit is trying to dance while you are literally dying of laughter and I just have to wonder how the guys do it, or indeed where they extract their ideas from – the sewers of Huddersfield probably!

However, despite the over the top lyrical content, the music is still just as gritty and electronic as it ever was.

Petrol Bastard weren’t so much formed as expelled from the bowel of an irritable pensioner.  I am happy to say they haven’t evolved since Jihad Trombone and still churning out hard-core flatulence as bold as brass!

Saying this I still say Petrol Bastard are shit (hot) just for the ideas alone. The dynamic ‘Shoot the Dog’ is totally insane, while ‘Circuit-board rammed up my Arse’ is just an insane title with a very dark weave of emotion that will make you grin, OK it’s wind! ‘Fuck Off’ is a startling track that engages with a good old Leeds accent, which is funny in itself, although maybe not to a person residing in the area. ‘Hey Petrol Bastard’ is persistently irritating and annoying because you can’t get the fuckin’ lyrics out of your head! ‘Microwave’ sounds like it is sending out Morse code from the nearby metal asylum! ‘Fly a Plane into Londis’ is a rhythmic adventure that can be likened to Madness. ‘If you die in Batley do you die in real life?’ Now there’s a question? It does sound very intense and intriguing at the beginning of its four minute and forty six second life, although the lyrics embrace the groove like glass to the face! But I have no idea if you die in real life if you die in Batley, although probably not! ‘Swan Shit on mah Dik’ is just hilarious, as to how they got Swan Shit on their Dik’s? It is anyone’s guess really, but no matter you will still find yourself singing it over and over in your head so much so that even the Go Compare Advert would be more preferable! ‘Fred Foster’s Broken Fridge’ One can only imagine how the idea for this little track came to light and it probably wasn’t from Fred Foster’s fridge – as it is broken! ‘Beefy Grandad’ is a little ditty about someone’s grandad and so far this is the track I have played a little bit more than I think I should have... What’s for Tea Wahim? – Potato! (Said in a very thick West Yorkshire accent – you couldn’t write this stuff? Errr Yes, sadly you can!

‘Bitch better be a Meateater’ Yayyy from Jihad Trombone – this is a good dance track for people who have pissed themselves as the intoxication of rhythms and the sounds of Oi become apparent. ‘River of Shit and Fire’ takes us on a little jaunt, just pull those braces! Before things get totally crazy and out of control! ‘Warrior Face’ has a touch of Prodigy about it which is always a good sign, unless Prodigy are not your bag, then fuck you! Show your Warrior Face, it don’t scare me! ‘Violent Assault on Priory Way’ is rather a thunderous and odious track that will make your body jerk in spasms of pleasure – take my word for it! ‘Oi Lad’ this track has the potential to be big in Liverpool, as everyone calls everyone else Lad, even the girls! Yeah, this could be Liverpool’s anthem without a doubt!

Summary

I think it is official Petrol Bastard are shit, but with a hint of chilli!! If you haven’t heard them before, then you have to, at least once, but I am not responsible for what your ears will come into contact with OK!

There’s no going back once you press play – their tracks will infect like the black death and the only cure is more Petrol Bastard, so you are doomed if you do and doomed if you don’t!

But ‘live’ yes I confess, I saw them live in Liverpool and I have never been the same since!

Things are about to get worse, so fuck it! Oi Lad, listen to Petrol Bastard.
