“The Official Facebook page for NWOBHM Band TYTAN. Formed by ex-Angelwitch bass man Kev 'Skidz' Riddles in the early 80's, Tytan emerging from the NWOBHM scene with the album "Rough Justice".
The Band Re-formed in 2012 to play Keep It True and since then, saw various gigs across the UK & Europe....now the follow up to Rough Justice is under construction...the "Justice Served" album...new tracks feature in current sets.

Being weaned on NWOBHM in the 80’s is just something that will always float my boat as it reminds me of the good old days, when rock was rock – no sub genres just rock and you could name every album, title and member from the band no problem, these days it isn’t that easy with the newer bands as there always seems to be problems with members leaving, not that Tytan haven’t had their fair share of bad luck, but they were thrust into the headlights in the 80’s and although only releasing “Rough Justice” 1985 due to label problems, the name Tytan just stuck, so it was a lot easier for Big Kev to resurrect the band in 2012.
The Intro brings in a little moodiness for you to think about and wonder what this album will bring to the table. Despite being quite short it does its job by retaining an angst that sets the way for the rest of the album. Love you to Death sounds like the Tytan I know and produces some great welding riffs that transport you back to that time era of standing in front of a mirror and posing with a hairbrush and yes we have all done it!
Fight the Fight gets down to business and welds some heavier riffs and bludgeoning beats into the fracas. It is typical headbanging stuff, if you like, with some great screeching guitar and lyrics that draw you in – it’s a great track! Spitfire is another get-up and bangs your brains out to with the Tytan code for NWOBHM at the forefront kicking ass as it has always done and brought the track together in one grab. Reap the Whirlwind I know I have heard this track before as it rings bells within my head and was and still is one of those tracks that never leave you. Well and truly making its mark with its serious lyrics and heartfelt rhythms. The band played it at The Snooty Fox I am sure but it is a very strong track and one I will always enjoy listening to.
Midnight Sun this is a very different track than the usual Tytan offering and is an acoustic ballad – ballads aren’t really my thing but nice to hear something a little different other than the NWOBHM as diversity is the key to a lot of great music.
Forever Gone is back to its roots and re-recorded from ‘Rough Justice’ and is another track that holds its own and a welcome chance to hear it again. Billy Who I can’t remember hearing this track previously, I think it must have been played down south at another venue but it certainly gets the toes tapping on all accounts. Hells Breath is definitely a brand new one as I would have remembered that organ – the sound of the 70’s/80’s we all loved the organ as it did add depth to a track and still does. People from that era will never forget an organ sound ever! One Last Detail has a superb start attached to it and with that organ and catchy rhythm really makes for a classic track. Worthy of Honour holds some very heartfelt lyrics and serious music to back it up. It is another acoustic track that is poignant and makes it mark. The Cradle takes it up a notch and fires forthright and is more in keeping with the Tytan trademark with good head banging ferocity and alluring rhythms that sting the ears when heard!
It is great that Tytan has produced another album but maybe try not leaving it 35 years before the next one guys!
