own words:
“Lavens Fate, an industrial-metal/progressive-rock
band from Spring Texas was founded by Guitarist Brandon Hall and vocalist Sam
Zarzana in 2008. Since inception, the band have completed its line-up, written
a sizeable library of new music, and have begun to generate momentum that is
continuing to grow.
Lavens Fate combines powerful rhythms, killer
riffs and melodic overtures with soundscapes ranging from industrial to
orchestral with haunting vocals loaded with memorable hooks will leave you
hypnotized and craving more. Lavens Fate produced their first E.P. “Resurrection” which debuted in
February 2012 and is actively playing shows in the greater Houston area”
Blood Pact
Interesting
little bass line with a clean vocal that bursts into a more hard hitting
delivery with solid driving force of superb guitar and drums. There is some great
synth on this track that sweeps uncontrollably into a hypnotic rhythm and a
regimented drum beat. Definitely a good way of starting an E.P Offering lots of
appeal.
Broken Man
With a heavy
resonating pulse of sophistication this track bursts into a slow burn with
elegant clean vocals, very soulful with driving sumptuous rhythms that flurry
into maturity and take you on a natural adventure through a melodically robust
track although not wanting to sound flippant, it sounds nothing like the genre
it goes under (being industrial) however there are modest elements of
progressive rock and is still a strong track and growing on me fast.

One Last
Heartbeat
This track
offers a lot more harsh and aggressive muted vocal resiliency not as timid as
the first or second track would like you to believe, and powerfully mature.
Again it possesses strong, slow driving melodic rhythms and a superb drum beat.
The bass lines are neat and un-wavering in quality with a good solid ending.
Vein
Pulsing and
pushing the boundaries with some strenuous drum beats wrapped in a rhythmical
sound with a sneaky hard edged bass line. It offers a different vocal approach
with a more muted sound making it quite eerie in presentation, however this is
a lot slower than the previous track and does sound slightly on the weak side.
Your Hell
This track is
without a doubt heavier than the previous four tracks and constantly delivers
some favourable rhythms and slightly more in keeping with the industrial theme
and well executed with tasteful melodic synth.
To sum up:
Definitely not
what I was expecting – I imagine Industrial to be more scathing and raw with
impacting vocals that are anything but clean or even muted, but there is
something attractive about Lavens Fate in
that they capture a more panoramic sound which is the prog side coming into
play and when they mix the two genres together – (something I would never have
dreamed of even in this world of sub genres) they get this sophisticated dreamy
edge which will appeal to a wider audience.
Although I do
love my hard edged vocals and more dynamic sound by just the industrial genre
alone but I still can’t take anything away from Lavens Fate with their moody and brooding quality that just simply
begs your attention with a resounding poke in the eye! They have plugged into a
lone reservoir and simply captured the essence of incorporating some strong
ideas and more importantly they work!
