Genre: Disease ridden Black Metal

Iskalde Morket is a solo black metal project! Formed around 2010 by John Rogers. He started it when he was attending College as a way of removing frustration and not being able to find like-minded musicians but if he had he may not have come up with anything as inspirational as this and also it makes it a lot easier to make decisions i.e. no alpha males or ego’s to contend with as is what can happen in bands from time to time and maybe a lot of the time

Iskalde Morket is Norwegian for Freezing Darkness! John felt it portrayed what he was trying to get across to people and ‘borrowed’ it from Throne of Katarsis album called 'det iskalde morket'

John also has another band which is the total opposite of Iskalde Morket. And is a comedy power violence band! – Now that has sparked intrigue already!

I just had to take a peek at Fascists 2 Ashes and believe me it could not be far more removed from Iskalde Morket if it tried. So including a video of ‘Fish Molester’ here because I love the way they say ‘Fesh’ with their Norfolk country bumpkin accent!

Reet noice Fesh!

Now back to the doom and gloom - Suicide, Misanthropy, Metaphysics and Life after Death are just some of the themes John uses to create such dark and atmospheric tracks for Iskalde Morket.

I am always excited to receive new stuff from bands and have been sent some amazing stuff over the years but this is quite extraordinary for just one man to have created and produced and I personally hope he continues...

A Manifestation of Cacophony
The deep wind blows and the eerie sounds that go with it can be heard fluctuating along with a demonic growling whisper. The familiar black riffs come tumbling from the speakers along with the most scornful of vocal that desecrates and then a quirky little rhythm starts which is very untypical of black metal. The demon is back gargling venom to a build-up of powerful riffs that are controlled to a degree but have their moments of mayhem.

Submerged from the light, and I am drowning
The idea of black metal has grown and become more varied as time goes by introducing various complex rhythms although still blacker than black and never losing its ambiance. This is just as complex and consistent in dark and ominous effects. Clever use of the keyboard, not used for symphonic purposes, but just for those finishing touches. An intense listen that is dynamic and rich in a black dense web of enthralling and indulgent passages.

Disintegration of Ether
“The whole human race is some kind of cancer on the face of the earth and deserves to be eliminated!”  This track is like being thrown in to the deepest forest, passing through ancient landscapes, battling through the undergrowth.  It succeeds to pull you further into its gnarly winding passages of not knowing what is around the corner. The voice that culminates from the speakers is what you come face to face with on your journey and there is no turning back – no escape from the relentless curse – this is deserving of your time and attention – it creates a lot of dark images that come to life as soon as you listen but beware of the aftermath!

Winter
Low dominant keyboard that protrudes danger and evil in its tones.  It strikes fear into your heart and makes you shiver with excitement at what is to come. The rasping vocal is just as demonic but the mood is more sombre. The sense of intensity is damming and brutal and like the deepest winter landscapes offers no respite from its bitterly cold atmosphere. Driving chords and constant beats are just like the driving wind and constant snow that falls in abundance.

The man behind Iskalde Morket - John Rogers

To Sum up:
This is more of an insight into the mind of John Rogers. It instantly conjours up a bleak and barren landscape of futile vastness. It sweeps all around you pulling you further into its dark recesses of the mind until you find yourself in a web of dense blackness – there is no light, there is no hope! The embers that once were only perceive to be truly snuffed out with coldness. Goodnight world!

I have enjoyed every second of this amazing E.P and want to thank John for sharing his dark thoughts and imagination so clearly. His inhuman rasps of pure unadulterated bile immediately sends you to a cold environment and has you witnessing his visions with extreme ease like a video that repeats over and over. – Its stark and ‘less is more attitude’ will shroud you in its intensified evil ambiance every time you press play – it is truly remarkable! And in a strange way it is uplifting although the themes are less than jolly!

I truly get this! I urge you to as well. And if you are feeling a bit suicidal as we all do from time to time just watch the video above and bring yourself back into the depravity of the real world and have yourself some ‘Fesh!’
