Genre: Pagan Black Metal

Biography:
“Hailing from the underground of Montoursville, Pennsylvania Frozen Mist started as a solo project by Orodreth in mid-February 2004. The name Frozen Mist came about from smoking a cigarette in the cold, grim, snowy weather. Throughout the years, Orodreth has been changing the sound of his music with very unique extreme dark, death and pagan black metal attributes. To this day, Frozen Mist remains as the ONLY extreme metal band in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania!”

Frozen Mist returns with their 21st full length studio album, THE TENALACH PROPHECY, to be released on the Capcomia Studios underground label in spring 2016.

~~~~~~~~~~
It must be absolutely fantastic for a band to be the only extreme metal band around, and in their home town too, which means they have full run of everything, but it must also have its drawbacks too!
It is pretty common place that extreme metal only seems to be heard in some places on the planet and not admired by many it seems, unless you live in places like Finland or Sweden where it does seem to have a larger following, however, thanks to the Internet, all corners of the globe can be reached and music can be enjoyed from an arm chair, so sit back and watch this!
Frozen Mist’s new video reminds me of a song that is the total opposite of Pagan Black Metal and it goes “If you go down to the woods today be sure of a big surprise!” and this isn’t a dig at the band either, before someone corrects me and has a go.
It must be amazing to just lose yourself in those woods and be at one with nature as well as having space to record a video, with no interruptions from passer-by’s. Although coming across these three guys in the woods if not into the more extreme type of music could scare you half to death, but for me I would be in my element! – However not much chance of it happening in Liverpool that’s for sure, with its concrete jungle and scally thugs galore!
Pagan Black Metal is without a doubt bleak and cold, as it is intended to be. The vocals most of the time, if not always, are incoherent and dismal, but never lacking in passion or emotion, even if it is hate fuelled, but it can be a thing of beauty too and can sometimes concentrate on the forests, runes, pagan ancestry, the night, the moon, the stars and indeed the Autumn and Winter months, which for Frozen Mist hold dear as influences of their music, along with heaps of Maxwell House Master Blend coffee and Warsteiner Dunkel beer!
Jamie Orodreth Stonge has worked extremely hard, putting a lot into the making of Frozen Mist along with his two companions Salmar and Daeron and together have created something so dark and evil it defies its own terms.
It epitomises raw and emotional imagination, gets under the skin and captivates with intimidating desolate scenery that is strongly outlined in this video. Transporting the listener to new minimalist territory with rousing vocals that plead guilty for instantly making the ears bleed!
Even with the sun shining its golden rays, Frozen Mist manage to make their video menacing and intimidating turning the colour into  black and white and their camera angles portray an eerie atmospheric presence, backed up with some raucously deep probing rhythms and mighty earth shattering vocals – the path is now clear cut, and it’s enough to wake all the witches of a bygone era!
8.5/10
